Barring current lolnin situation, I want to keep the job somewhat up to date weapon wise just in case they decide to do something making it worthwhile to play again. Which out of the TotM weapons would be fairly easy to complete and still decently useful? Right now I'm looking into the DEX/Acc one, since I never bothered with katana merits. I'm wondering though if a Lowers DEF or Lowers EVA would be easier to shoot for.
I suppose I'll have to do two of them, or one of another. I doubt perdu blade will be worth it after the next 2 patches.
what's the easiest way to handle the 200x Wamoura trials for taipan fangs? seems like it's doomed to be painfully slow, i can't think of any easy solo spots off the top of my head.
any advice on what to tweaks to make to the following sets , just got a hold of V belt and a cerby+1 today so trying to work out if i need any major changes.
Monk - Main
TP: ffxiah.com/members/item-sets?id=159573
Asuran : ffxiah.com/members/item-sets?id=159578
War - 2nd main ( using perdu till i get that sexy ass axe)
TP: ffxiah.com/members/item-sets?id=172812
RR: ffxiah.com/members/item-sets?id=172813
Sam - Spamurai
TP: ffxiah.com/members/item-sets?id=172810
WS: ffxiah.com/members/item-sets?id=172808
STP is shit, sorry for vagueness. No idea what SE was thinking with that one, since most of the other STP weapons are pretty decent. OAT is competitive(and likely ahead) if you're gearing properly and your party is set up properly. Capping accuracy is laughably easy in most situations, and with the level cap raise and atmas/stalwarts, attack is equally so. It could be argued that fSTR is an easy cap as well, since TPing in STR gear is becoming more and more acceptable. Adding 40 or 50 just from atma helps a ton in abyssea, and you should already cap at night in non-xarc dyna/limbus/ein if you have koga tekko.
Tiercel is going to give you 25% for minimal loss, can get 25.3% if you get your hands on Acuben's Helm and you'd be roughly at the same accuracy as my monk (faith <> usu feet same acc basically) and I still get away with capped accuracy on about everything with Forager's/Flame(Ruthven can suck a dick)/Bando
Making multiple gearsets with gradual accuracy raise / minimal losses help.
you do know faith give dmg +1 right? with full hth merits that is. also usu have STP, enough of it to lower your hits needed by 1 for 100%.
Edit: Tired, nvm.
You know the "bugs" work, right? Go behind pudding camp into Halvung, follow the path around through a door and into a room with a bunch of trolls and some moblins in (only the NM there is true sight). Run straight across to another door, open said door. There's about 12 bugs in there plus a Flan that can re-spawn as an NM. Solo is rough though, have someone with you who can dispel their spikes.
Question of my own: best places for Trial 15 (400 Peistes)? Search is fucked, the spot listed on wiki (J-5 in Grauberg) has loads of aggroing beastmen around so I'm not enjoying it much. Any other options?
If Sekka is rendered merely a 40/201 weapon, then OAT can be shown to be a little ahead (with capped everything, with ~70% haste, even if an "AFK" melee).
But what would you consider ideal COR buffs?
For ninja in general, even Samurai Roll with a SAM in party is going to be inferior to Fighter's Roll without WAR. Even +50 store TP can be shown to be worse than only +6% DA for Kikoku/OAT (given the above capped conditions), and additional DA benefits non-OAT pairings less than those with OAT. At this point, Kikoku/OAT is practically a wash with Kikoku/Sekka and the DA +7% Enchu would be better (if weapon DA applies to both weapons).
Arrapago Remnants, Psycheflayer NM solo. Anyone done it? I'm interested in getting the final piece I still need from the Morrigan set but I don't want to harass friends to come with me for it. My RDM gear is quite above average, but isn't GODLY and I don't really have a solid PDT/MDT set.
Some people on my server that have Isatu OAT complete told me that with Brutal Earring and /WAR that the OAT procs about 60% of the time or more, which seems to be good for TP gain. I think it’s just the Isatu that OAT, not the other katana used. I plan on building both the OAT and the Sekka DEX/ACC ones and it will be interesting to see what else they will add in the coming updates.
I got some messages from a few people and it seems that there are a lot of different opinions when it comes to what’s good to use for NIN:
Some people told me to TP in Ninja Chainmail +1 and WS in Koga Chainmail or Haub+1. One said to fulltime Haub+1 but I’m not sure about that. Seems that Koga Chainmail or Haub+1 are almost equal in stats for the most part, apart from the -20 EVA on haub+1, so not sure really if one is truly better than the other for WS. So if it’s true that DEX = ACC and STR = ATT, when an item has ATT or ACC, does that factor into the WS mod? Otherwise Haub+1 would seem the best for WS.
Seems to be mix feelings on the waist. Anything that has 5% haste or more is of course recommended as best. Swift Belt and Koga Sarashi seems to be more split with the people I’ve talked to. Some say that the 4% haste is what matters based on what I own, so why bother with Swift since it has -5 ATT, and I already have a lot of +ACC gear. Others feel the more ACC is better to have overall, and I should use Swift for now rather than Koga.
For rings Shinobi ring seems more situational than practical from the opinions I heard. I got more of a positive push for Tor ring than Shinobi, as it would be rare that my HP would be in yellow unless I force it when I am solo. My HP usually becomes yellow around 1200, so not a great danger of a quick KO anyways. Both rings seems good to have anyways.
Gloves it seems to be Dusk or Dusk +1, Koga Tekko at night, and Usu gloves got some good push, especially with completed Usu set (goes without saying I suppose).
The other slots I chose seem fine as the general consensus, with the appropriate swaps where it suits it.
Seems a lot of people like Haste first, then ACC, followed by stuff like STR, ATT, DEX etc. Of course depending on the WS being used, or if it's TP gain, determines the stat being used at the time (obviously). I finding that the WS gear choices are a lot more clear than what should be worn to gain TP gear in.
So I’m hearing both that I’m choosing correctly and incorrectly, with mixed feelings on what should be equipping in each slot as either proper gear or major fail. Can any NIN give me an idea of what they wear so I can compare it to what I do, and can go from there?
Big post I know, very sorry, just want to get my head wrapped around this once and for all. Thanks.
No specific experience with Psycheflayer but I've done Bhoot quite a few times and I can only assume they're roughly the same deal but basically it all comes down to the cells you get in starting chest since farming cells in Arra sucks hardcore. It shouldn't be too bad until 75% nuking/DoTing since you can deaggro it easily and it will not melee you, however past this point the AI switches to melee and that's when it gets annoying and you better have legs cell. Dunno what else to add... never solo'd it but they should be the same deal really.
Otherwise try to find someone to duo it with, like a monk or something, getting d/cers can be a lot harder than people that wants Arra drops.
With 15% base DA the effective OAT rate will be 49% (.15 + .85*.40) since the base OAT rate is 40% (and still appears to be 40%). Practically speaking, the OAT katana will reduce the mean number of attack rounds to 100 TP by ~1.1 (I calculated this, Usukane Sune-Ate or otherwise. Without, from ~9 to ~7.9. With, from ~8.6 to ~ 7.45). I did undersell OAT by suggesting it was merely "ok," but certainly if you have the support the marginal value Sekka provides is significantly attenuated, and high fSTR benefits OAT more than non-OAT alternatives.
If you make OAT work, make Ninja Chainmail +1 work (capped hit rate) and make Shinobi Ring work (use a HP- proc).
I want to update my spam filter to prevent these RMT tells.

thanks for the tips re: wamouras, gonna check out both spots and see if anyone's hanging around there next time day rolls around.
another couple of questions: is ultion mantle worth using while perfect counter is up, and if it is, how could i do that with spellcast? i know it's some sort of ifBuffActive type rule, but i'm not entirely sure i've written one of those before. do i need the actual buff ID number, or will the standard name work fine for that?
