The main factors are just having two people who can stona, a main mage and a back up healer (THF, BRD, etc). Once you have those two things is when I was considering altering the setup.
Assuming you have two people who can benefit from evoker's roll you essentially negate the difference in MP from refresh sources that would have been gained (ie ballading three people gives you 9 MP, ballading and evoking two people will give 8-10).
Then you include the fact that the THF could give the MNK a roll. In a good situation this could be chaos/hunters and help kill faster, in a bad situation you could do ninja or margus rolls to help recoup some of the healing ability lost from going /COR.
Even after breaking even on MP refreshed per minute and reducing the healing needed (either faster kill or more evasion/MDB), the THF would still be able to Wind Shot once a minute for a pretty decent amount of damage, as well as whatever damage they could have originally contributed from SA/TA.
Plus you add in the fact that a huge portion of the thief population consists of people's mules solely existing for the purpose of TH so giving them two responsibilities every 2.5 minutes can result in a substantial increase in sustained effectiveness as opposed to alt tabbing every several minutes for a couple more curing.
