Yes.
Yes.
How is it that one figured out the amount of MPh / amount of ticks that resting in an MPh item outdoes a Refresh item?
For example, I'm pretty sure Duelist's Chapeau is superior to an MPh+1 headpiece, but I'm not so sure how it stacks up against Mirror Tiara. Chapeau may still be better for the first few ticks, but idk.
Pretty simple...
All hMP gear is half as effective for the first tick. A single refresh equipment is 3.33hMP/tick.
If something has 7hMP on it, it would be better for the first tick and all remaining ticks, if it has 4 < x < 7 it will be better for all ticks after the first.
Of course you can always use refresh gear for the first 19 seconds, then switch to an hmp piece, then switch back to refresh for 9 seconds, then hmp, etc. Tickle is really awesome.
And, out of interest, how much MP would you be gaining by flickering constantly while kneeling? That works out to something in the area of 12 MP or so per minute?
So, if you upgrade Laevateinn via Trial of the Magians--gaining MAB +30--does it become any good?
(Sorry if been asked before, search didn't give anything!)
2-3 mp per tic (5-6 for the first). With both refresh body+hands/feet, that's 4-6/tic, and for rdm, switching chapeau to mirror can get you another 2-3/tic. Realistically it'll only be 2, since often the third will be impossible to get while still having hmp gear on for the resting tic (and even when it's not, it's hardly worth the risk and effort to time it out perfectly), but that's still an extra 4/6 free hmp, and the first tic gets you 5-6 x2-3. It's not much, but it can add up if you need the extra mp.
When you're resting? Unless you're recovering your full MP pool and you have a lousy hMP set (like I shamefully do -- I honestly almost never /heal so I can't be bothered to work on it), you'd need to be a Red Mage with Duelist's Chapeau, Morrigan's/Dalmatica, and the Serpentes set (alternatively Owleyes for other mages if we ever find that) for the constant switching to really add up. Even then, you'd be looking at something like the cost of a single Cure III per minute. I mean, more power to you if you can stand to do it, but /heal for me is always a signal to browse BG or go grab a drink.
You're right, it's not much, and usually isn't worth the effort, but it can be in some cases. Usually the only time i bother is when soloing, when i know i can only rest 1-3 tics max at a time. Mostly i do it a lot for faust, or back when i used to solo despot on blm (i'd fight 4 groundskeepers at a time, which left me killing them with 50~150 mp, so the sooner i rested some mp back, the sooner i could start nuking).
Is magic damage taken +x% in gear subtracted from your damage reduction or calculated separately?
Subtracted from -mdt.
Fuck.
Any idea on the Fast Cast on a Vivid Strap?
I didn't have statustimer running, downloaded the latest statustimer in case it was recently updated, created the txt file, pasted in those 4 lines, loaded statustimer, and they're still at the bottom of the icon for utsu. Why won't this work for me? This (and step counters) is why I stopped using statustimer a while back. =/
Try //sc reloaddata
If not, try reloading it again.
I have this in my init.txt after statustimer is loaded. It fixes timers overlaying my finishing move counter:
statustimer setposy 70
Try typing that into your console with statustimer loaded to see if it moves your timers (if it doesn't, statustimer isn't your issue and you probably need to screenshot it to get help). If it works, by all means, put it in your init.txt somewhere at the bottom.
