if you've never really drank before, there is not much you will enjoy about drinking liquor all day on your birthday

^ just get a fifth of MD2020 in whatever flavor you like and drink that
Okay I'm just going to ask this since I'm curious but what would you guys consider a good starter beer? Since Budweiser is shit.
This is as wrong as it gets.
It's Beer before liquor, never been sicker
Liqour before beer, all in the clear
That said, I enjoy Capt. and Mtn Dew. It's pretty tasty. Also, like they said, eating and hydrating are key. Drinking a shitload of water is the best way to prevent an epic hangover.
Also a couple Red Bull and Vodkas are a good way to keep you spirits up if it's a long night.

will fuck your shit up on the cheap, and tastes good
http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94542 <--beer thread, has some pretty solid variety of beers in there. Should skim through it and see if anything looks like stuff you've seen in your local stores, or w/e.
Really depends what kind of beer you are looking for, but if you want a decent, easy to find lager I guess I'd go with Stella Artois. Lagers are kinda boring though.
If you want to try a really good beer that is in a lot of stores and some pubs, I would maybe try Smithwicks or if you want to get cheaper, maybe an Amberbock. Its not an outstanding beer like Smithwicks or others in that thread, but it is cheap, found everywhere, and imo a lot better than Bud light, etc. If you want to maybe spend a little more and try a good beer that I would think is in a lot of stores, Dead Guy Ale by Rogue is an outstanding beer. Beers change though depending on where you are, and if you are just starting out I would begin with more common and cheaper beers and work your way up into craft beers and what not.
Long Island Iced Tea
Incredible Hulk
Jack & Coke
Amaretto Sour (Kind of a Girl drink but it's good. Also very sweet so you won't want more than 1 or 2 of them)
For a starter beer??? Without knowing what specific type of beer interests you, I would recommend old faithful:
Black & Tan (Guinnes & Bass)
If you absolutely can't stand stouts, just try the Bass by itself.
Citrus vodka, sour mix, sugar, and some Tabasco sauce.
Its good stuff.
Try an old fashioned to kick off the new season of mad men in less than 2 weeks.
And then people suggest Absinthe, some of the heaviest alcohol ever made?I'd ask my dad but all he's ever had is johnny walker and jack daniels, which I think is a bit more heavy.
Listen to what Zoolander said. Drink lots of water before during and after drinking. If you want to be safe, drink somewhere between a 1:1 to 1:2 ratio of water:alcohol. People will rarely drink that much water (not even myself) but it helps tremendously trying to reach that goal. This is because a hangover headache is mainly caused by the alcohol dehydrating you. Eat a good meal at least an hour before you start and make sure you eat throughout the time you're drinking. Breads work very well.
Ok, as for drinks that are good to try on your first time out:
Rum & coke
Screwdriver
Old Fashion
Dirty Olive Martini or any Martini really
Mudslide
White Russian
Sangria
Limonchello
Amaretto Sour/Whiskey Sour
LIT-long island iced tea
Mint Julep
Bailey's over ice
Pina Colada
Margarita
Bay Breeze
Beers- you can check the most recent beer thread here, but to start out now is a good time for summer ales and wheat beer. Look for anything called hefewiezen, wheat, wit or white and you'll probably end up with something enjoyable your first time out.
Wines- lol, you could make an entire forum about this. First time out, though, I wouldn't suggest wine since you'll end up drunk and won't really appreciate it as well as you would otherwise.
You'll notice I mentioned a lot of mixed, "girly", drinks. Who cares, girls drink them because they taste good and aren't worried about macho-bullshit dick-measuring vicariously through what's in their glass. The faster you get over this the better. With almost all of the drinks I mentioned above, you won't be bombarded with the taste of the alcohol itself, although it will still be there to varying degrees, and you shouldn't. There is a lot of garbage out there, especially depending on where you end up going out. So instead of ordering a Scotch on the rocks, getting served the lowest tier that they blindly pulled off the shelf because "he's only 21, he won't know the difference" and end up hating it because of that, it would be better to go with the above suggestions, imo.
Good luck, have fun and make sure you have someone to drive you around and home.
This is the only correct answer so far in the thread. Really who the hell actually tries to figure out what alcohol they like on their 21'st birthday.
Just drink girly fruity drinks on your birthday something that will get you drunk but you can't taste the alcohol in. Or pound cheap beers if you would rather go that way but it will taste much worse to you.
If you're drinking all day (and you don't sound like much of a drinker) - try to enjoy the start of being drunk. Get a buzz on and keep it going, but pace yourself. You can get blackout shitfaced at the end of the night if you like, but if you get completely shitty at 5 in the afternoon it's going to be a lame birthday for you and your friends.
Maker's Mark
the first thing that comes to mind: Hendrick's gin.
there is nothing like a Hendrick's and tonic. it's a bit pricey but unbelievably good. it's good even if you don't like gin because it doesn't have that pine needle taste to it. it's barely gin, really. so yeah, Hendrick's + tonic water, mixed to your tastes, with a slice of cucumber (NOT LIME!) is the perfect summer drink.
also, jeremiah weed sweet tea vodka with lemonade. but that's just a given.
Absinthe is goddamn delicioussssss.~
gotta time your alcohol drinking so that it will end right when bedtime comes around. midday hangovers are fucking annoying. if I'm drinking more than one drink, I'm doing it at night (or when camping - for some reason, I almost never get hungover when camping, even if I'm drinking shitty beer all day long)
Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum mixed with Coke.

Strongbow Apple Cider
both of these aren't too hardcore![]()
