Some people mentioned Sambuca... I've never met anyone under the age of fifty that likes the flavor of licorice.

Not sure how anyone could construe an LIT as a chick drink. I think some people think it actually has ice tea in it when in reality it is just a splash of Coke and sweet & sour mix on top of a shitload of booze.
Try a snake bite, 1/2 cider , 1/2 lager Of your choice.
Black and tans are good as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_Tan
Red vodka was pretty tasty. I don't drink much liquor though. I usually like to be standing by the end of the night.
Four Loko
My 21st consisted of drinking some crazy Bacardi drink I made for myself out of a huge glass. Then doing shots of it. Then going to the bar and drinking a stein of Hofbrau original. Then doing 4 or 5 rounds of shots with my friends. The shot glasses were put on skis with 5 shot glasses. You all had to take the shot at once on the ski, shotskis are great. Then I ordered another stein and made it 3/4 the way through before I went into the bathroom and puked my guts out. Some of my friends stayed at the bar and finished my stein. The night was filled with puking on a train, in the street, outside of a cab, and in my toilet. Woke up on my futon after I was put to my bed.
Insane, irresponsible night, but it was great. Thank god for good friends.
If this is the OPs first time drinking ever, fear not, I am the master of day drinking. Pacing yourself is key, otherwise you'll get shitfaced by 6pm and pass out. Personally, I'd start with cheap beer (Busch Light), since it's cheap (do not get PBR, shit is gross). Get a good buzz and then eventually move on to liquor only. You really can't go wrong with Vodka anything as a first-timer. SoCo is also delicious with coke and lime. Tequila if you want to live it up and hate life.
You American's and your drinking laws at 21. Lol. I remember going to a club at 21 in Seattle. Seeing college students acting a fool when they just turned 21 was interesting. By the time i turned 21, was a vet in drinking. Is it 21 US wide?
Redbull & Vodka is crack. Friends have banned me from drinking this as i've raged on it multiple times. If it's your 1st time really drinking. Just stick with beer.
Red Bull goes phenomenally well with Gin.
Everyone underage drinks pretty much (I started drinking at 17). For most people, turning 21 is the 'official' celebration when you choose to act crazy. I became 10x more obnoxious at the bar just because I was turning 21, despite going to the place many times before with my brother's ID. I also forgot, I received two free shots from the bar tender on my 21st. She just poured them from me and I drank. Still have no idea what kind they were.
I agree wholeheartly with everybody here that said don't start with the hard stuff. Jack Daniels or any type of whiskey period. If you have never drank before or are not used to hard liquor it will feel like acid being poured down your throat and if your stomach is empty it can make it convulse and you puke. I would just drink beer. Try Coor's Light. It's not "the best" beer out there but it's not bad. Your guts will thank you for it.

All assuming your bartender knows what the fuck. Everything is newbie friendly and provides a fairly broad range of alcohols and presentations. Don't recommend doing htem all in one night though.
And Mad Men fans should know about Stinger.

This stuff is the shit if you're a vodka drinker and can actually find it. All the liquor stores around me stopped carrying it.
Actually I would recommend starting off with hard liquor it is the most economically way of getting drunk. Johnny Walker is my drink of choice.
Coors Light is sex in a canoe.
Fucking close to water.
Jägermeister.
