This subject is sooo f'ing old. The problem is the right doesn't mention that by 'sex education' they mean things like appropriate touching, talking with teachers about uncomfortable behavior from other adults, avoid strangers, ect. It's only known as sex ed because it encompasses a long term program that provides public education about sex that the early childhood education falls under. The only people who would be opposed to this education are people who don't care about the well being of their children. The problem is the right wing media doesn't actually mention any of the facts. They are drumming up an issue out of nothing to make a cheap political point. They did the same shit like 2 years ago, literally the exact same shit.

Since, you know, Max's statement was directly related to the "school should stay out of Sex Ed, it should be the parents job" statements in this thread.

    Revisionist history, internet edition ftw.

This was an example of dramatic irony, wherein the actors in a story are unaware of something which the audience is already informed about, in case anyone missed it.

Though I'm sure kids will get that having sex as much as you can, without even having an awareness of the possible consequences, can be risky enough to teach their own kids about it properly... wait, no... strike that, reverse it.

Keep in mind, the point being misread in my post is so obvious to some, people are defending me in an argument... that might be a cue to make sure you didn't misunderstand something.

My Mom got a call from my school when I got in trouble for teaching my friends in Kindergarten 'where babies really come from'. I don't even remember getting the talk, and I don't intend for my kids to remember it either, they will simply grow up knowing what's up and not being ignorant. You can't be too early for the talk, it's literally impossible. It's a boolean, it either makes sense or it doesn't, you don't get the talk and go 'OH MY GOD MY WORLD IS UPSIDE DOWN I'M FUCKED UP FOR LIFE NOW'.

I also fully intend to not let them think Santa Clause is real because I was that one kid in elementary school who swore Santa was real. lol

I can't believe this hasn't been touched, but holy fuck, sex ed is not about morals, it's about where the fuck you, and by you I mean pretty much every fucking person ever, came from sex. Not about morality, but about health, safety, and the basic shit you need to know about what the fuck is attached to your body.

Fuck morality, whether it be driven by religion or general upbringing, there is shit we need to know, and we should all be told about sex. And yes, it should be taught in school, because some people refuse to accept the fact that their privately held beliefs are putting other people at risk, and it's not fair.

But you're only arguing the 'experience' angle, which isn't the whole picture. People who lacked the wisdom to avoid an early pregnancy aren't magically granted the ability to communicate about sex ed to the very young simply because they experienced it. That's what easily disqualifies them and can explain why teen pregnancy rates in Da South are so terrible.

Inb4another 'LOL U KENT REED' one-liner from Plow.

Actually no, you got me just fine.

I simply disagree that having experienced something disqualifies you from being capable of teaching about it.

You're right, they're not "magically granted the ability to communicate," but it's utterly absurd to assume that having been through it means you *can't* do so.

My first sex ed was in 4th grade, they taught us about vaginal and oral sex as well as the various scientific parts of the reproductive organs. It wasn't a big deal

When I originally posted this thread all I wanted was to see people view's and opinions, I never once said anything derogatory about anyone or anything. I just wanted to see where people stood on the matter but I almost instantly felt myself defending myself over something that really was stupid. I'll be honest, when I first read and watched the video (I didn't watch it completely, I'll admit) first thing I thought of was the type of sex-ed I received when I was in school, and it was the full, "These are your parts, these are his parts, this is how babies are made and this is what a condom is for". Without thinking things completely through I just automatically jumped to the whole "oh hell no, not at my daughters age", assumption. But as someone so, and I put this lightly, eloquently put it to me in 'bold', it would be age appropriate. And with that I agree, perhaps it should be taught in school seeing there are parents out there that wont teach certain things to their children due to moral or religious beliefs.

When I said it should be left to the parents, I meant it... As I have already taught my 6 year old that it isn't ok to be touched in places, what her parts are and what boys parts are and that is what separates the two genders. So for those of you who are calling me a cunt and a bad parent cause I don't want to teach my daughter these facts, you are wrong. You don't know me, so you had no right to assume. I either misspoke or didn't describe well enough in my words what, exactly, I meant. But for parent's that aren't like me or others that don't understand that children need to know certain things at a young age that could save them, it should be taught at school... as long as its age appropriate. This is probably going to make more people rage and spew out more insults, but that's ok. I explained myself.

No one in the thread ever said they should be teaching sex positions and blowjobs etc. at the kindergarten level.

And unfortunately, because there are a LOT of parents that fit your description (not knowing what to say, not wanting to say it), they NEED to have this education in public school.

Perhaps not can't but I think in many cases someone who lacks the responsibility to think it through in the first place would lack the maturity and responsibility to instruct their kids to avoid the mistake. Not all instances mind you, but at least in some.

Again, I say, I have ALREADY taught my daughter what is needed at her age... I said this above. I wasn't going to say this but I will. I taught her cause of what happened to me when I was 4... perhaps if my parents would have been more open or my schools would have taught me that it was wrong for someone to do what they did to me I would have been able to put the son of a bitch that raped and molested me for 3 years (ages 4-7) behind bars. But by the time I actually found out it was wrong to much time had gone by (10 years) and nothing could be done about it. I knew what to say, and I did when she was 5 years old. So please, learn to read before calling me out.

My bad, I worded my post wrong.

I meant the description that you gave of other parents. Not the description that matches you.

Besides the giggles from the word penis, no one in my class really cared, nor learned anything when they did it in my 5th grade class.

Perhaps all the more reason to teach this in schools at an early age, no? Just because you have taught your daughter this information does not mean that every parent has taught their children the same.

Didn't read most of the thread; don't care to read most of the thread.

Now let's talk about my opinions, which are far more imporant: I think i'm going to teach my daughters how to deep throat, because i think it's a decent skill to have, but i want to be egalitarian, so i am going to teach my sons how to deep throat too.

Kuya you forgot that you can't have kids by having sex with men. Good thing you're in PR, you can just buy a couple of Cuban babies or something.

Oh, you mean i have to put my penis inside of women to have babies? That sounds like such an inconveniance.

Tell you what, i'm just going to cum on my hand a little, and then shove my hand up some snatch. That should do it.
