    Headphone Jack for iPod Video

Ok well I have a 5th Gen. 30GB iPod Video. Wife got it for me 3 years ago for my birthday. I've not really had any problems with it until recently (minus a few freezes every now and then.) I have a JVC dock that I use every now and then, last time I used it my iPod froze so I took it off and let it die (like I always do when it freezes on that thing)(which also makes me think that the dock might be the problem cause the only time it freezes is on that stupid dock that cost way to much) a couple days later I went to use my iPod plugged in my headphones and nothing came out.

The iPod still worked fine showed it was playing the song but no sound. I got online later and did a search and some site said that I needed a new headphone jack (I did try to play it on my dock again and the wifeys dock but nothing.) So I went online found a headphone jack ordered it got it a day or 2 ago and installed it myself with the help of a youtube video (also the site that said that would be the problem said it was an easy fix.) It was a pretty easy fix considering I have never taken apart an iPod. After installing the new headphone jack I plugged in my headphones and they worked and I plugged it in to the dock and it worked. Yesterday while working out I had my iPod plugged in to the dock everything was fine didn't freeze played good and worked fine. I pick it up today to go mow plug in my headphones and nothing tried it on both docks again and nothing plugged in 3 sets of headphones and NOTHING argh.

Does anyone know what the problem might be please help me. I don't mind buying a new one but if I don't have to that would be nice plus this one has some sentimental value. I was thinking (as earlier stated) that it might be a problem with the dock but I've had the dock as long as I have had the iPod so I doubt thats the problem but who knows. I have did a system restore or reset on the thing re-added all my songs and everything so I'm at a loss right now.

Sorry for the long post and I'm sure some ppl will stop after the first paragraph but I wanted to get all the info in there so we can get an answer on this thing

Also my wife has a iPod mini thats 5 years old she has had no problems with the thing. Has he own JVC dock and uses it all the time she has also used my dock with no problems or freezes. We also have 2 FM transmitters one for hers one for mine. Just thought I would throw that in there incase someone knows something about those that cause problems.

Before you buy a new one just take it to the apple store. They'll repair it if they can or might help you out with a new one. You could also try resetting it to factory defaults, reloading your music on it, and see if that helps.

Ya I was hoping I didn't have to do that cause the closest apple store is over 2hrs away. Plus if I didn't buy the new headphone jack from apple will they fix it? The first time it happened before I changed the jack I did a full restore on itunes I guess thats what your talking about. I'm hoping its a easy fix and that I did something wrong.
