FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread IV: I got beta inv but my 5 year old PC can't run it

Uhh.. apparently once you hit level 10 you can do another chain, but I haven't started considering that you don't get armor or weapons from the quests and I can barely stay on the server long enough to get my level 10 leves done in hopes of new armor.

I'm sure someone around here has done them, but I'm powerleveling to 20 to try and get some actual ARMOR for my Lancer.

idk if this is the right forum but a friend has a problem he is useing a tv as pc monitor but he has also a xbox on the tv... but when he plays ffxiv and then change the tv to xbox and then change back to pc then his ffxiv beta shut down and black screen and/or it says directx error does anyone know if he can do anything to solve this problem?

I think it's related to alt+tabbing out of the game in fullscreen. So technically he could try playing the game in windowed mode for the time being and it wouldn't be an issue.

Gotta test this with my own monitor too now...

he even has the problem when he plays in windowed mode sometimes it just black screens and sometimes it says directx error
i hope that it works in the full game because it would be bad if his game always crash when he joins a xbox live chat etc. xD

It's a very straightforward statement.

If you trade your gil for (someone else's) gil, the traded (aka received) gil is not displayed or usable until server reboot. It's an awkward case, but a bug is a bug.

@Osede, if you are talking about the Cedarwood aetheryte, it's not a camp. As far as I am aware, you can only port to camp sites from anywhere. Places like Cedarwood and in theory Cassiopeia Hallows' aetherytes are however connected to certain camps. You can port to Cedarwood from Camp Bearded Rock, for instance. I don't know if they fixed it, but the English client does not notify you that doing so actually costs 1 anima. It works both ways, though (i.e. you can port to Bearded Rock from Cedarwood, again for the cost of 1 anima).

It's caused because the TV is resyncing with the graphics card everytime you switch channels, there isn't much you can do about it.

Is he using a VGA lead of HDMI ?

I think the bug is when you trade gil for gil in the same trade; you both put (different?) amounts of gil in your trade window.

It's called Legends Adrift. I didn't do this one in alpha, so I have no idea how it runs. I tried starting it last Thursday and it crashed right after the intro cutscene, to which afterwards the servers started dying. I haven't tried to run it again.

@the gil thing, I did say it was an awkward case, but again, a bug is a bug.

That's exactly what I mean. It's stupid let people trade gil for gil. If it were gil for nothing (a loan), then that's perfectly fine, but trading gil for gil doesn't make any sense at all.

It could just be how they worded it. Gil for nothing, gil for gil, it could work the same and both could cause this issue.

But A little late coming into the convo, Yeah I'm excited that the testing is tonight/tomorrow as well. It's perfect for me sense I only go to work for an hour tomorrow and get out at 8 A.M. And yeah hope my boyfriend leaves me alone too lol

I am only rank 8 but I am having a lot of fun doing all the guild leves (my favorite thing now) I havent figured out how to do much else, mainly because I haven't played a gazillion hours yet... I just want gear though~! They need to add the gear back that I can purchase from shop... I want my little glasses I had in the alpha back lol.

Also, I have lost most interest in FFXI now... After my linkshell disbanded ; ; now I have to look forward to FFXIV even more. lol Looking for friends to play retail with now, though.
