To be honest I can't even fucking tell. I get the same XP from virtually everything, it may or may not be happening more/less frequently. Skill points are just all over the place.

So how was lag for everyone? In town it wasn't too awful but out in the field, the bearded rock area, was beyond horrible. I'm talking 3-5 solid seconds between input to action execution. I know it's probably because most of the server is shoved into that one small area, but it made the game unplayable for me today. Odd thing was this only happened when not doing a leavequest. During those I had little lag.
Glad to see they hopefully have the lobby server issues resolved.
That was you saying you believe it was Cedarwood for level 30 leves, but yeah, it may very well be Cedar Wood. I was just thinking it would be Balded Knoll. Again though that may be used for higher leves. I wasn't sure if you were positive since you said you believe it is.
Edit: Grammar
I ran around at the Beach getting all the nodes over there, found some Ahrimans and other enemies that can do 3 times my max hp in one atk. I don't know if we will even be able to kill some of these at 30 if they are still this hard. Im Phys18 Pug13 and they still just one shot me.
Maybe a pt of 30s could down them.
Can anyone relay actual reasons why grinding in FFXIV is fun? What sets it apart to you and why?
(OMGSHITZNEWSONANDHASTEHPWNZ is not an answer)
because it's FFXI-HD
I need to get a second account so I can sell the starter shit to npc and trade the gil to myself.
The same thing that makes gridning fun in any MMO. Nothing.
This is why it's called grinding..
Well sometimes it's fun or has purpose, an example of this is a linear storyline guiding a series of quest vs random npc needs 20 rat butts. Or just a good combat and leveling system (I can't wait till i get face punch ect..). However there's probably not a lot of anything in beta right now.
The level 30 leves are at Cedarwood and the Hollow underground cool looking place. the level 30-40 yellowjacket is also at Cedarwood.
Found the key to making it run better on mine was turning shadows off *in-game*. I had it set to 1024x768, half buffer, lowest shadows, 1x and it ran apretty close to 9fps, 13 if I looked at the ground/sky. Turning shadows off jumped me up to almost 30... This was on a c2d 2.2ghz, 8600M GT. After seeing that change I dared try window size buffer, but ended up like 5fps lol. so much for hopes. Hopefully they either go back to registry values (unlikely) or someone figures out what we have to change to have custom background resolution like XI...
Did you do the F8/Disable driver signature enforcement?
Yeah, it is reallllly slow. The fact that going through the inventory list for materials is horrendously slow doesn't help. When the recipe list popped after after putting in my ingredients I got excited, because I thought with that window it would show you all the different recipies you could make from the selected materials. Instead, it looks like its just an incredibly redundant "hey we know what you are trying to make and I'ma let you finish, but first I just wanna say this is the recipe you're doing". I could see after you hit the synth or go or combine or w/e the button was on the material entry screen that you get a popup showing the crystal type and then go straight to crafting, but the shit now is retarded.
You can only do them once every 2 days, and you can only have 8 at a time. When you get new ones you are asked which you want to exchange to increase the rewards.
8 is the cap/day? I think it's just the cap on what you can carry concurrently, but the timing on this test prevented me from clarifying this point.
Can't yet. And I don't think you will be ever, but that is just my random speculation.
I had this once, and others have said it to. I'm pretty sure what caused it for me was hitting the skill I wanted to use before I had finished taking my weapon out. I force closed it too, but not logging back in is not exactly what they wanted testers to do.
In XI it showed lack of server communication, I never saw it change colors unless there was nothing going back and forth. However I think mine is almost always yellow in beta and drops to red, even when I'm not having any lag. It could be more of a load meter maybe or something.
This happens when you zone with your weapon out. Zones are somewhat invisible in parts of La Noscea, but one zone example I can think of is going from Limsa to La Noscea. When you're weapon is out zoning you'll glitch after you select an ability. Really quite frustrating especially if you start up a guildleve since the only remedy to fixing this is to force quit the client.
Google is your friend... do what this link says then reboot and f8.

If you do it the F8 way you gotta do that everytime you want to use the controller. Otherwise your drivers will not work. In order to keep it saved you need to find a program that will put your comp back into test mode (you'll get a "Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7600" watermark at the lower right hand portion of your screen.)
