Guess I'm off to grab some breakfast and a paper. Cool servers S-E.
I have an ATI card, 5850, still noticing a few stutters, it's much better overall. Limsa Lomisa is still pretty bad. I have a feeling it might be my Hard drive too, it's pretty slow now.
Got my character created and I've been at Now Loading for a while now. Not sure if I should let it keep loading or cut my losses and try again.
bleh beaten
Lower, 320MB version and my CPU is Core2Duo E4400 OC'd to 2,8Ghz. I have DoF and AO off, shadows on the lowest settings, playing on 1440x900 in windowed mode (fits me best, but can play higher if I want, had no problems with 1680x1050 full screen). I'd say the game runs... so-so, but is playable even in crowded areas. My PC is not really powerful as can be seen so I'm still happy.
None of the NPCs in town are showing up for me. Is this happening to you guys?
aparently the 1st crystal you need to bind yourself to for the quest doesnt show up, cockblocking a bunch of new ppl to progress atm
also the map that camp is on doesnt have any mobs in it
any way you can fight without the crystal quest?
Sounds a lot like Alpha "mis-zone" problem, basically logout/relog and try to rezone in.
Tried to teleport back to Limsa-Lominsa and got stuck on the loading screen for well over ten minutes. Trying to log back on now but I just get stuck on the loading screen again after choosing my character. Something's fishy going on in town? >;
So, I just got a message on my Pugilist that:
Your Surplus hand-to-hand skill rank is now 15.
[e] and after all of this time, I've only just noticed that surplus skill points DON'T add to your class level exp.
Managed to get in and play for about an hour or so as well, but I got error (40000)4,40368 or whatever it was again when I forgot I shouldn't use Arbor Call NW of Camp Bearded Rock :/
When I went from Physical Level 10 -> 11 I dumped all 6 points into STR and my Light Shot damage went up a few points on average. From 50-51 to ~56, though with more variance it looked like (was going from 51-61).
That just happened to me. So I closed the game and now I can't log on. Think my home point was in town. ;/
I've been reading a couple other forums about the beta and a lot of testers are ripping the game apart. I've seen complaints about the looting system, interactions with NPCs and that the game is too closely related to FFXI. Any takes on this?
think the ffxiv forums news in update details mentioned nvidia cards still have "some tuff invisible" still error?
as for ati theirs a notice "game may run slow still, temporary fix was applied"
my skipping issues gone down to near nonexitant. Don't really notice it now on a 5870 at max settings, going to turn on the distance.. blur whatever effect on after work to see if I get a performance impact till or not also.
They're trying to play the game like its a retail copy and its not like WoW. Also nothing is balanced yet since its a beta and yeah its a beta.
Just means more stable servers when they don't pick up retail :3 NPC interaction is fine..it's..how you'd expect to interact with NPCs..target them..talk unless they're mission/quest related then you choose the quest option and so on.
There's no "system" in place for "loot" yet, it's just a treasure pool like any other MMO really, just not fine tuned since its after all..a beta.
That's odd, those problems aren't really that bad. Sure they need work like everything else, but that's Beta for ya.
I think the controls are the biggest gripe right now, and the client that refuses to download. Also I think people find the game unfamiliar and they get lost not knowing what to do. How horrible is that!?
In other news, I've never had to deal with any kind of queues so far, which is odd. There's still stuttering though so that's kinda annoying, I'd say they made some improvements however.
Grouped up with some french "me no english" guy, was fun doing few leves. I wish more people would group up and let others help them with leves, I think all we did were 4 star ones so I guess it pays off. You don't really need more than 3 peeps to 5 star the first set of leves I think.
