More posts leaking tidbits of interesting gameplay that actually exists in 14, less posts about the merits of NMs and reasons for regional software restrictions.
First off, I get what you are saying. Windows, however, might be a bad example as it is not a perpetually paid service. Keep in mind that IANAL, but traditionally, service terms must be visible or agreed to to use the software you buy. Windows, for example, clearly states on the box that by simply opening the box, you agree to it's license rules. It gets hairier with paid services. This isn't totally tangential to your argument.
What I am trying to get at is those terms of service have to be spelled out very clearly on a product box or bad things can happen (see anything to do with DLC and trade-in stores), and those rules differ based on well... region. I know this isn't a popular comparison, but have you ever looked at the differences in TOSes between regions for that game? I actually read something about it recently, though it will take some time for me to find again.
Other than that, I guess I agree, but I also don't see the need for it if they plan to continue allowing the client language to be chosen.
What's the point of World NM's if they drop something that you can get by other means? I LOVE camping NMs, and that is a minority, but that is what made FFXI for me and my LS.
Yes we got pissed off when it spawned already claimed but that's because of connection. One of the reasons I wish there are NA based servers. No matter how many crap spawns / tries it took. When we got it, it was a HUGE joy because of the group effort / organization it took to get there and then kill it.
It's really fun to kill it around other LS's because you KNOW they're kicking themselves for not getting it. It breeds a lot of competition and I love that about XI.
I'm pretty upset about these rates.
Why should I pay so much more just because I live in Europe?
Monthly fee in € is almost 30% higher than it is for NA players?
I'd like to know why.
I've also imported the US version of XI and the expansions too.
Later I bought the EU version because it had everything on one DVD. For payment I still had to use the NA playonline service but I could install and play using the EU version.
However when it came to registering the wings expansion it didn't work and I had to import the NA version again just for the code.
I just hope they keep the selection of the language you'd like to install because I don't want to end up playing the game in german ><;
HNM fights were fun, but camping them was far from it. So why not have a system where instead of Fafnir popping in Dragon's Aery every 21-24 hours it could pop in any high level zone at any random time of the day regardless of when it was killed, but only once per day. No one could camp it then. You'd just find out it has popped when someone encounters it and the first linkshell to get a group together would go kill it.
NMs that are designed to be soloed should only drop ra/ex stuff.
Not to mention you're leveling up and fafhogg decides to drop by and say sup on your party.
G4TV's MMO report features FFXIV this week!
I think this is bigger news than the release date announcement.
Of course they call it the "fanboy service" and they only did it so people would stop sending them e-mails about not reporting anything XIV related :D.
He could on the otherhand make a new account.
Waits for them to rip SE a new one, although I'm sure they have to play nice or get the privilege of being able to report on it taken away.G4TV's MMO report features FFXIV this week!

Problem is HNM will always be botted no matter what. Whether it be a claim war like at DA, or just a scan fest like DI/SW. I agree having it pop in a random zone once a day would probably be the best method, but you'd still have people with multiple accounts scanning each zone if the drops are worthwhile. I thought the solution to this problem was dealt with a long time ago by Einherjar. Yea, you could go camp everyday at HNM for your Abj's, but for people that weren't down for that, you could do this once every 3day instanced fight which was less than 30 mins long, and have a very good chance of HNM abj's dropping once you got to Odin. I realize instanced fighting isn't so popular with everyone, but at least it gave you another option to obtaining gear that dropped off kings, and you could still camp kings if you so desired. I realize that you couldn't get your ridill or dring from Einherjar, but you always have mog bonanza! Implementing the same system of HNM/Instanced fights for the same gear is fine by me. Kinda keeps everyone happy in a sense.
In other news, got a beta key off a friend of my brother who doesn't wanna play. Gogo slow ass FFXIV updater, let's hope you're done by Tuesday.
Dont worry, current the jp version is the shittiest. Most expensive in both game and monthly if anyone cares. This is one of the reason that I don't consider to get the JP CE, even though I would like to have the JP version CE bonus.
Well, the other problem is just the SE JP customer support.
