FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread IV: I got beta inv but my 5 year old PC can't run it

For the other beta testers I have a quick question. I got to physical level 6 last night when I was finally able to get on but my HP/MP never went up once. Is this happening to anyone else or did I get hit with some rare bug?

It was up a running fine for a while. My server went down for matience at 2am est, tried to log on at 4am and it didn't work, tried to log on at 7 am and it didn't work. Got on for a little around 8, server disconnected, tried to log on, various errors, beta closed for the day.

So there was no different time zone beta tests? EU/JP/NA where all thrown into the worlds at the same time?

Is it really possible to mess thing up knowing this? Or there is still hidden attribute to everything. I was hoping they would go for something as simple as the tutorial description to make multiclassing easier.

yeah that tutorial is a pain to read, but i assumed that much. at least they didnt screw up the naming.

Get better equipment. Doubt it has anything to do with the 'wrong' stats.

i dont understand at which step do you get queued exactly ? i never saw any mention of a queue when trying to log in.

Since it -is- a beta and we -are- supposed to be testing and not just playing for free, I think I'll let them know on the beta forums that the servers could use a little work.

the test servers will open again later today from my understanding, dunno if it will be worth the amount of time and if everyone wil get in but thats what it says on the beta website.

My hp/mp was increasing with each level, so must have been a bug. Did you try to log out and log back in?

copy/pasted everything that didnt make the client crash from my old lap now, tryin to update, it seems to just ignore it

It works, you just need to copy both FFXIV related folders from:
- /Program Files/
- /Libraries/Documents/My Games/

You don't need to run the installer on the new machine at all. I just rar'd those two folders and put them on a USB HDD for a friend. He just unrared them in the same locations, ran ffxivboot.exe and it worked fine. (Recreate shortcuts for ffxivconfig and ffxivboot if you like...)

My HP and MP increase when my class levels up and it also lags a bit.
I have to kill an enemy before it actually registers.

Since it was so hard to get on last night I stayed on for as long as I could once I was in. If my hp/mp are still set at the lvl 1 values when I get on again I'll be submitting a bug report since the bug report page isn't available at the moment.

Edit: To everyone else, I got to rank 3 gladiator AND I was pumping several points into VIT each level and never saw any change even after I killed mobs. I started off at 230hp/145mp and stayed that way until I logged off.

Is your class still at level 1? That may be your issue.

I edited my last post but no my class rank is 3. Also your hp/mp goes up with your physical level. The update notes on the beta site state that clearly.

I just bought one and it shipped today. Hopefully I'll have it by the next test. It looks pretty legit (like a PS2 controller but USB)

I have a (pretty cheap) Logitech Dual-Action which is basically a PS2 controller copy paste and it worked awesome, just took 3 tries to set it right since default settings of the client are wtf.

I only found skill selection to be harder than keyboard but that's probably because I'm not used to it but you really won't regret it at all.

Yeah, gamepad fucking owns for this game. Also for those of you that have PS3 controllers... You can use that. Just plug it in and google "motioninjoy"

Looks like it IS physical. I didn't go up in HP until physical level 5 though (230 -> 241), MP didn't grow at that level. It's hard to tell beyond that, as some of my equips began to change. This was on a Pugilist.

Motionjoy drivers, ps3 controller, and bluetooth dongle all you need.

The update notes are wrong. HP and MP going up exactly after I get a class level is not a coincidence.

Yeah problem I had for example is if I did an ability that grants a buff it would select the buff when I hit confirm on a skill to use. I gotta remap but aside that really..gamepad is just awesome..feels a lot more natural.
