Surplus smithing... fuck my life.
A few notes-
Carpenter also gets Hasty Hand at 15, did any other DoH job get Tender Touch at 10? If so, would think they are all universal then.
Think you really want you 2nd crafting item (Saw, Needle, etc) around 13-15ish. I still brick synths I shouldn't and can't HQ a level 1 item to save my life. (Also, anyone know the recipe for Elm Saw Grip? Need it for upgraded Carp item. It is NOT Elm Lumber however)
Willow Half Mask- Willow Lumber(W) Can start around 10, decent shot at synth 13
Pine Crook- Pine Branch, Viscous Fluid, Beastkin Blood(3I Shard)- Can start around 12, decent shot at 15
Cedar Arrow Shafts are the same as above. Cedar Log(W) for the synth. Much like the Fang Arrows, you only make 3 per synth with the recipe listed near the OP. I hope that is a glitch and they meant to give you 33 per attempt. Arrows are going to be hella expensive if that's on purpose.
Sorry this probably reads like random inklings. Tired, but wanted to jot this down.
I started to get surplus smithing points, but it didn't effect anything.
Edit:
Elm Saw Grip is:
1 Elm Lumber
1 Brass Plate
1 Iron Nails
Any carpenter been able to make a ash axe haft? Need for Labrys...
Leather worker gets fullfillment at lvl 10
increase rate of success most effective for materials
you can carry over these abilities to other DoH I don't know wether they are nerfed when used as another DoH and will probably have level restricions in full release
also
Elm Saw Grip 1 piece of elm lumber, 1 sheet of brass plate, 1 handful of iron nails
Iron Saw 1 iron saw blade, 1 elm saw grip, 1 handful of iron rivets
but I think iron tools are proably lvl 20 tools I think its brass tools that I have seen that are level 10
Is the Elm Saw Grip synth a Carpenter synth?
Also, if there is a Brass Saw, what grip do you suppose makes it? I would assume there is a Brass Saw Blade as well?
Thank you for the information.
Edit: Also started getting Surplus on Carpentry and Botany, didn't actually calculate to see if the surplus is counting towards the total or not. Will do tonight. (Started at 13 on Carp, 16 on Botany)
There isn't a Brass Saw since you can't make a Brass Saw Blade. Or at least nobody has discovered the recipe for it, since it isn't the same as bronze or iron.
Thinking about it, the 2nd tier Clothcraft item is Bone related, maybe there is a bone saw or something somewheres.
More important, means I need a blacksmith on Jecht that can make Iron Saws if I make the grips....
Is it just me or does Hasty Hands lower overall skill/exp?
Trying to get letherworking high enough to make buffalo leather and warped bow
Level 10 is not high enough so I proably need to be somewhere around lvl 20
which I dont think is going to happen in this phase of the beta because its currently really hard to level since there no reliable way of getting ice shards and crystals
15 and still making Bronze Arrowheads. Yields going down but are still decent (400ish and lame surplus). Any of you smiths skilling up on other synths?
Watching movies and spamming Standard Synthesis... damn this shit is boring.
Yeah you only get like 40ish percent. Still useful if you're making stuff like oak chips at lvl18 carpentry, don't care about HQ, and don't care about the negligible exp.
People are saying Buffalo Leather is lvl18 but you can't color it at that lvl. Ice crystals are reasonably farmable at like lvl25.
Found some dude with a Brass Gladius and two Bronze Spathas in bazaar. Got the Gladius for 15k. ;o
The Bronze Spatha is Lv6 btw... How are we not able to make it yet? -_-
Yeah each class gets their own lvl10 ability.
Fulfillment
Maker's Muse
Masterpiece
Tender Touch
Hasty Hand is at 15.
Tender Touch is the most useful one. It's hard to fail a synth using tender touch + rapid spam.
That's cool that the crafters aren't simply full carbon copies of each other, although they use the same game mechanics.
