General Question:

Since we need almost everything under the sun just to make something. Does this mean most of the stuff we can buy from shops?

Or we have to sit around waiting for ppl to make them (-_-lll

But, on the beta general forums I have started a new thread where people can reply with their character name, server, and crafting and gathering rank to make exchange between crafters a little bit easier.

So if your a crafter, please go post on there and and hopefully we can get a good community of crafters.

Wrote up a big post on crafting but decided against posting. The info really is likely to be irrelevant when they make changes anyways. Some stuff is most definitely just placeholder that will be changed later.

In the coming weeks more people will find more recipes and info will spread. There are two things hindering crafters right now. 1) Some crystals/shards are difficult to obtain. 2) Poor UI system makes it annoying to try putting different items in the box to see if there's a synth there. On release, once we have the regular and tutorial synthesis leves, recipes will be well-known even to people who don't use wikis and the marketplace will fill in any gear deficiencies. So you might have to wait for gear...for about 6 hours after the servers go up! People don't even care at the moment because they can wear any level of gear and gil is irrelevant. Ravenous crafters will more than meet supply...we can only hope that the bazaar system is redesigned by then.

Dyeing stuff works just fine. Dyes are tied to craft and item tier at the moment so alchemists could have 80 gazillion dyes to make when all is said and done (assuming alchemists will be able to make dye.) Some base items for dyes are available from quarrying and such so SOMEBODY will be able to craft them.

There is no benefit for synthing big items other than the cumulative exp you get from making each part. If you think about it though, it takes 10-15 synths to complete some items...that's a lotta skill points and physical exp. It gives you a feeling of accomplishment to make something big, even if it ends up being a blah level 4 armor. The crafting system has the potential to be epic once it's tweaked. They've done a great job so far.

Didn't they remove that bug in this patch so everyone's back to whiffing with level 1 weapons.

They said they are aware of it so people shouldnt tell them anymore. I think it works intentionally like this due to the limited number of equipment.

I don't know what lvl is the maple longbow in that crafting list

Does anyone have any information on enhancing weapons? By example, I mean the decorated bronze spear as opposed to a bronze spear?

I'd like to upgrade my spear, but it has to be 100% repaired before I can work on it, and my skill level isn't high enough yet. I'm also a bit worried about the weapon flat-out blowing up on a failure, but I can just buy another if that happens.

Any lancers have any experience with this?

Tried it. No dice. I'll try again next test. I have a feeling that I'll get greater skillups from moving on to brass, plus I might be able to make some modifications to my spear.

6 nuggets or ores 1 tin ore if you haven't tried that, if not can't help you.

Were you able to make a Harpoon Lucavi?

Edit: I heard there was zinc ore. You might want to try that in place of one of the ores for the Brass Ingot.
