Can you save state in front of Seitengrates chest and reload the state if it's not the bow?
Well the bow is on any airship from what i heard and there are no save crystals on a airship ... but anyway every time you zone or load a game the chests will be reseted.
I heard there is some sort of pattern for the chest and the bow, just check out youtube ... but no idea how it works they abuse ff12 alot by figuring out RNG (random number generator) and it's different on every ps2 model and game version.
I don't think it will work because of the RNG mechanics behind that.
Not sure if it works on emulator, but if it does then getting the bow isn't that hard with the RNG method (it's really long to explain, just google it).
EDIT: never mind I missed the last post. The RNG method requires PS2 hard-resetting so not sure if it's going to work like that on emulator... can give it a few tries I guess.
I really like the general idea of Zodiac system game, but I'm not sure how big a fan I'll be of spending hours researching which Quickenings / Esper locations to use for which characters... or job choices, for that matter. Blah.
Tell me its not as daunting as it seems?
Takes 20 minutes max.
Build a party. I recommend a WHM, a ranged attacker, and a melee attacker. Fill in with whatever jobs you like as long as you've got a reliable job to fill those 3 roles.
After that, see who benefits most from what Esper. The quickening choices are easy, you can just eyeball them. Here's a link of job summaries and their esper specific abilities:

It's not, for quickenings you just pick out the 2 or 3 that have abilities behind them so you don't get screwed out of them. Now for espers, I usually just use my 3 main characters for hunts and story so picking which esper to give to the 3 isn't that big of a deal. I can see it being a little tricky with 6 jobs but with 3 it's pretty easy to know who gets what esper.
As for job choices it doesn't really matter just play what you think you would enjoy but I would recommend having a White Mage or at least Red Mage in your group at all times to heal/buff.
The only trouble I had with my setup was Zodiark. I had to switch out my Samurai with my Black mage for that last 20%. I hate physical immunity qq. So far though I have beat everything as Samurai, Knight, and White Mage. Just beat King Behemoth and now need to do Pharos before I can finish up the hunts.
DONT SELL YOUR HIGH ARCANA EARLY IN THE GAME
fuck me this is cockblocking me and adding another 2 hrs to me getting tourn
GameFAQs has a nice Tournasol-specific guide that shows you how to be more efficient with your loot to save you a TON of farming.
Basically, don't sell any of the ingredients involved in making the 9 items needed until you have them all ready, then follow the guide. I'm a long ways from it and I have yet to ever even see the Tournasol in-game... gonna' do it right this time.
Maybe I'll finally 100% my bestiary for once... fuckin' Onion Queen/Topstalk/etc. were a stupid cockblock on that, if you ask me.
For my setup, I've been overleveled for most things, but more difficult Espers and Marks I have managed to beat with my static group of
Basch: Hunter (Physical DD and backing up status effects with items)
Fran: Black Mage (Massive magic DD and backup curing)
Balthier: Red Mage (mostly keeping shell/pro up and dispelling or erasing debuffs)
How Ironic, I think its impossible to get another Soul of Thamasa so I go Zalera hunting to steal a High Arcana. Low and behold in The Zeviah Span I come across Ishteen and steal another Soul of Thamasa...
Somewhat off-topic, but could I emulate Vargrant Story with PCSX2? I tried to boot my VagrantStory.BIN but it froze on a black screen on my first try... ISO onry? Could I simply convert the BIN to ISO?
Oh man the irony in this game....
Stayed up til 4am last night trying to steal a damn High Arcana. No luck. Reset probably 30 times trying to get it.
Get up this morning to clean the apt and get ready for my dad to come over. Pop it in while waiting, first try. Pebble, Gem, High Arcana...
Just did KB. Wish there was a boss revisit mode. That was a badass fight.
Maybe he's in the Trial Mode? I gave it a half-assed shot for the hell of it at Lv60-ish. I did notice a number of old bosses, Espers, and some multiples of Marks (was a fight against 3 Mindflayers). I ended up getting my ass handed to me by the group of 8+ Deadly Nightshades at around Stage 25 or so. I can't imagine what the top tier stages are like.
I'm guessing you gotta' have 3 of every status-immunity accessories in the game and max'd out jobs/levels/etc, switching gear/gambits at almost every stage towards the end to have a chance. All that for a New Game+ that starts you at lv.90? Wat.
So far, I'm finding the most difficult thing about this version of the game is the lack of every character having Raise/Arise. The most difficult fight for me was the Item-restricted fight with Exodus. Once your only person with Raise goes down, it's pretty rough. I ended up using Revive for the first time in my life, and it was the only reason I ended up winning. Scathe is pretty harsh when some of your characters have a total of 3000 HP...
If you have a job that has bubble use that. Always. Shit is so hax.
