SE: Hey, you guys want an NA IZJS version?
Everyone: Sure!
SE: Pysch! Here's another FF4 remake. But don't worry we'll probably release it on the game's 20th anniversary, assuming we still make games by then and not just cutscenes.
So quick necro. Im wrapping up shit. I gave up on the fucking Z spear chest. I just want to kill Omega Mk12 and Yaizmat and finish this. Yaizmat, I fucked around with briefly and can say I can beat it with my lvl 81-87s (x3) but fuck me in the ass, Omega is a rapebot. I refuse to use reverse. Will lvl 99s make a big difference? Any non reverse strat advice?
Started playing this on my PS2 a while ago but I'd like to switch to emulator now. I have managed to extract the save file from my memory card but I don't know how to convert it so I can use it on pcsx2 emulator. Anyone knows?

While that URL says GameFAQ saves, it'll have the info you want.
Got it working, thanks.
No prob, I ended up being in the same situation a while back when playing Tales of the Abyss... just wish there were a faster/easier way to do it. Emulator to PS2 is smoother and easier for sure.

0.9.8 is out for those who care! Haven't specifically tested with FF12-Int but it's good to have the latest version for any ps2 game.
I just set it up and it looks fantastic, and it's running at a steady 60 fps. The only problem I'm having is that every now and then the audio screws up and makes a sort of digitalized sound, if that makes any sense, but I haven't tried any other sound plugins aside from the default one.
And how does this sound for a setup?
Vaan - Monk
Balthier - Hunter
Fran - Black mage
Basch - Knight (maybe Uhlan instead?)
Asche - Samurai
Penelo - White mage
I know pretty much any setup can function in the base game, but I'm trying to gear myself more towards end game like Omega and Yiazmat.
Oh man, picking a full job combination is such a nightmare. lol I don't have experience with XII end game but I don't recall seeing a lot of setups with both Hunter/Shikari and Knight since they both function as a tank in the game, but I think I also remember Knight excelling at that role for the bigger stuff later on, depending on to what extent evasion-tanking suffers for Hunter. I also haven't seen Monk as a popular choice when looking at the gamefaqs forums, but all I know is that it does well with poles or whatever it gets that reaches flying and does a good job of healing later on, which might make having Monk+Knight+WHM redundant?
As far as individual people go, unless you've already researched this and chose them specifically, I believe Vaan is supposed to make the best Hunter while Samurai and Knight are usually divided between which Ashe will be. I can say for sure that Vaan set to Hunter with the Gladius early on was incredibly fucking broken. I can see reason for Uhlan with Basch if you were to bump Knight or swap Ashe to Knight and set Vaan to Samurai assuming you wanted to keep that in the mix; I made Basch an Archer for why I can't even remember. Penelo makes sense as a mage, but if you decide to change your setup at all, I usually see her in a magic damage-role as either BLM or Uhlan, depending on whether you decide to keep MNK+WHM+Knight. In that scenario I've seen Balthier pawned off as WHM too; I don't recall what he does well with.
I was never really sure what the hell to do with Fran besides stare at her butt.
I have no idea on how much of an improvement the new version offers, this is a new computer and I just installed pcsx2 on it for the first time. I did use it before, but it was on a really old laptop which inevitably ran everything like crap.
Emulation settings are all default, except for the aspect ratio which I changed to 16:9 and I went with the SSE4.1 version of GSdx instead of SSSE2 / SSSE3.
Graphics plugin settings are: D3D11 renderer, no interlacing, x6 native resolution, and texture filtering on. The rest of the options are on their default setting.
Thanks, I'll give it a try next time I play. Got up to Yiaz a while ago but I just didn't have the patience to deal with his HP + random en-death all over again.
for the few games I've played on it... abso-fucking-lutely none, very disappointing for games like Tales of Legendia that really don't play all that well (okay in some parts in software mode with frame skipping, but once you get a full party, you lag in nearly every battle) no matter what you do.
Id like to point out for all the people who have upgraded their computers recently. the game plays soooooooooooo much better on a boss level system, got for it
Yeah, even with all the settings on high I can run the game smoothly, the only thing that I've seen that causes a noticeable fps drop is Basch's Flame Purge which causes a drop down to something like 10 fps. Even the people would weren't crazy about FFXII should give this another go though, fixes most of the problems with the battle system and it's gorgeous on pcsx2.
