    Installing wired xbox controller

I installed the xbox controller drivers via the Microsoft website. Although the controller successfully installed, it still will not show up under "Game Controllers". I'm running Windows XP 32, if that matters. I would like to use it to play emulators (ZSNES specifically). Any halp appreciated!

are you using an actual wired controller or a wireless controller using the playncharge adapter cable?

I remember having this same problem as well. There is some dumb little program (not the drivers, an actual program) that made it work, let me see if I can find it.

meh, this is all that comes up: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/do...ategory=gaming that you have to use the pull down menus to d/l. I could have sworn there was a program that handled the 360 accessories that had its own panel that listed all the stuff it controlled, but maybe that was an old version of this.

Oooh, good question. I guess I have the wireless with the charge adapter cable thing. Would I need to change anything to get it to work then?

And Jakson, those are the drivers that I installed.

Play n charge kit doesn't allow for PC usage, it's only wired to the battery.

For the wireless controllers you need one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-...9256195&sr=8-4

Microsoft's own drivers suck though, and for the case of my PC, raped my CPU performance in any directX game. I've been using some Japanese author's driver for it where I can tweak every little aspect of the controller.

@Kaisha: Is it XBCD or something different? I've had a helluva time trying to find a solution with a wired 360 controller on Windows 7. The usual LT/RT buttons not working thing.

Not XBCD. Author just nicknames it x360wc, where wc = wireless controller.

No idea if it works with wired also as it installs its own drivers for the dongle I purchased, but here's the link if you're interest: http://www.katch.ne.jp/~morii/driver/x360wc/index.html

Particularly love how I can adjust the deadzones and acceleration curves of the analog sticks for it.

The play n charge cable doesn't carry a data stream, only power.
