    100% CPU Temperature

I put together my computer today and used the stock heatsink's thermal paste. I put it down on the cpu and had to then take it off to re-seat it due to missing the clips. My temperature is around 50-60 Celsius at full load. Is this too hot? I do have Arctic 5 Compound, should I take the HS off and the cpu out and redo the thermal paste? Do I apply it to both the HS and CPU? Quick answer would be great on this question. Thanks guys.

It hovers around 49 or lower degrees Celsius idling in Windows XP.

    thats more then good.

49c for idle is high, but if 50-60c is full load (i.e 100%) ur fine

Thanks guys. At the moment I am running Everlast FPU Julia to see how high I can get it to go and watch the CPU fan and see if it'll speed up at critical temperatures.

    Temperature Highest: 67 Celsius
    Core Highest: 49 Celsius

Seems like it won't let it hit 50 Celsius Core or past 67 Celsius so I guess I was worried for nothing. Thanks again :D

What's a good application to keep track of CPU/GPU temps? Ideally a desktop gadget would be best. I've looked in the past and couldn't find anything good/free.

CPUID Hardware Monitor is the best one so far that I have found. As for a Desktop Gadget, no idea. I am sure there is one I see people with them all the time but they could be running Linux.

Here are some gadgets: Windows 7/Vista System Monitoring Gadgets

I use CoreTemp with CoreTempGadget and works perfect.
Here's the Gadget, scroll down to the 3rd one. To use this you'll also need Core Temp but its explained there.
I can't posts links yet but google "coretemp gadget" its the first link.

I've always used Everest for monitoring my temps and whatnot. Can output sensor data to an external LCD screen (like on those Logitech keyboards or on the minipanel on my older XPS m1730), and has a desktop gadget.

I like CPUID's Hardware Monitor's extensive detail, and I like CoreTemp's gadget/tray functionality. But CoreTemp does not read GPU temps, only CPU temps. So I think i'll keep both ^^ HW Monitor Pro would trump both, but alas it isn't free.

This is doing pretty much nothing. It will jump and stay between 88 - 95 when I watch any sort of video or open too many youtube pages. It's been like this for a long time and i've seen it peek to over 100.

Is this a false reading or what? It's a dell inspiron 9300 laptop from 7 years ago.

You might want to inspect the internals for dust and/or use compressed air.

Wizrow: Inspiron 9300 is a monster of a machine I believe, that is, it contains a desktop P4 (pretty sure it was desktop in the 2003/2004 era, I had a desktop P4 in my alienware laptop back then) and (on some) also ATI's 9600 card, both extremely hot components (and laptops sucks back then). I'm surprised it doesn't shut down for you, my 2004 Alienware still works, but will shut down after 30~ mins (fans work) after browsing even just youtube.

Research your processor's TJMax and as long as you're not touching it, you'll be fine.

Your temps sound fine. When you reseat it's usually a good idea to redo the paste application to prevent air bubbles.

    What is your room temperature?

I have a Vaio VGNFE running at 40C, outside is about 30C.

You are fine. My i7 980X reaches 81C at full load and i've been running this thing 24/7 for the past 3-4 months. Its maximum threshold 100C but you want to keep it under 85C at full load.
