Alright, so I just bought a new (read: outdated) video card for a computer at work. I put the video card in question in an old Dell (not sure exact model, something around an Optiplex GX270) tower. It is currently running XP SP3 with around 850 megs of ram (yay scrounging random amounts from other computers!) The entire purpose of this is for dual monitors (Firefox and fuck ton of other small, low intensive programs.)
The problem, however, is that upon installing it, during startup a hard drive check is, for some reason, required--despite a normal shut down before installation. Whether the check is skipped or ran the system hangs indefinitely immediately after.
While I would hope it isn't the problem, the design of the case and motherboard requires the use of a PCI riser. The video card is the only PCI device plugged in now (I removed the only other device connected to it--a lolModem.)
