Huh, surprised to see this being made on the Source engine. Used to play it a bit when it was a UT2K4 mod until the online community dried up. Will give it a look when it's up.

[EDIT] Did Valve acquire the team or something of the mod I played? Blackcatgames made both apparently, but the Steam product page shows Valve as the dev/publisher.

Looking forward to this. I bought Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor during the sale. Haven't played them yet, though I'd prefer to play all of them co-op.

Two years ago Valve hired the talented team behind the popular top down co-op mod Alien Swarm. Since then they have been busy working on the Left 4 Dead Series, and now Portal 2. However, we never forgot about Alien Swarm and the team has spent a lot of time bringing the game to Source in between their contributions to the other Valve projects.

I, personally, am psyched. It also comes with Source SDK which should let you play Source Mods even if you don't own HL2/Orange box/etc.

I wasn't aware there were any PC gamers that own neither the orange box or hl2.

I know a bunch of people from the Starcraft 2 community are going to be on top of this, since the launch coincides with the beta going down until retail release.

I don't! Happy with the console version of Orange Box until Episode 3 drops, then I'll have to cave in.

I didn't own it till like... 2007? Couldn't play Zombie Panic without it, Source SDK (not ZP) was actually a big reason I bought the Orange Box.

Edit: Also have a peasant friend who doesn't have it, our coop library is limited thanks to that!

I'm fairly certain it doesn't. It should, but they don't allow it to, which is fair enough I suppose.

Half Life 2 +Epi 1&2 were plenty fine to entertain me, and I have Portal on PC anyways. Not a big FPS multiplayer guy so TF2 wasn't of much interest to me.
