People will just pick whichever element is strongest... just like FFXI's first choice was Lightning and when it failed there was Ice.

I really couldn't decide right now. I'd probably want to pick something for defensive purposes, so we'd need to see which mobs have the most annoying AoE attacks. Like if it were ffxi, I might choose fire because of those annoying goblin bombs, or I might just choose wind in order to resist silence. In ffxiv, I just hope they don't leave any lolelements. It would be nice if each element had some use.
Fire because alot of stuff tends to be weak to fire and or lightning
For me it's Ice. Always loved what FF does with it, as well as the idea of it's association to Winter (which I love). Plus, Shiva always looks pretty amazing. Cannot wait to see what they do with her image and story with FFXIV!
Gonna go Earth since they'll expect everyone to Thunder and Ice. You'd be silly to walk around from a common weakness in another game.

I'm wind but if I had to make a new choice I'd pick dark or ghost or maybe both so I'd have no weaknesses![]()
They work by increasing damage and resistances. For a mage, that means they pick which elemental attack type(s) they want to specialize in. For a tank, it means which mobs attack type(s) they'll defend the best against. For DDs, it'll mean both.
The only real problem I see with this thread is that a few people flat out ignored the fact that this isn't FFXI and all the first tier nukes are the same strength. There's no inherent advantage in dumping into Thunder and/or Ice over the others except for the sake of familiarity.
Right now, I'm picking stats that either fit attacks I plan on using, already use, or attacks I take fairly regularly. Though, to be frank it's like a personality test to me since, like the other stats, their strength is tuned down for the beta.
Just thought it would be a fun poll — it should have been obvious it's not meant to mean a whole lot, but apparently this went over the heads of some. It seems most of the people who came in here aren't having any issues.
I just joined this forum, but I'm seeing a lot of condescension. I'm not sure why some users post in threads in which they simply plan to scorn and belittle others. I certainly hope moderators aren't in league with this type of poster here. Anyway, let's not derail the thread any further.
By the way, is it just me or anyone else pictured Aerns/Absolute Virtue when they looked at the elemental symbols...?
Psychic type
Lightning.
Lightning and maybe Wind if I feel like changing / splitting points
HEART!
It's going to be a pain in the ass redistributing element points every time you want to change classes, spells, or whatever. There probably won't be any limits on changing stats/elemnts but damn it sure is inconveniant. Laugh out fucking loud at all the dumb people that're going to full time a certain element.
srsly nobody done this?

I choose Earth
Because like in Real life.
I always get stepped on and over![]()
Now that i think about it, a Conjurer would be overpowered if every element along with Int/Mnd/Piety completely maxed out. It's like this as a limiter so a Conjurer doesn't become to powerful. I find it hard to believe that we'll have to gimp ourselves if we have classes that each benefit differently from stats/elements. If we were only meant to play one class to it's full effectiveness then that would completely defeat the purpose of being able to play multiple/different classes on a single character. Like hell i'm going to gimp myself when i switch from mage to attacker.
