Fire & Lightning, the elements of destruction!
I don't know why, but I just love those two elements. I love huge fires, and I love staring at the sky during a thunderstorm (from inside of course lol; I hate rain)
Nope, but a certain hood ornament came to mind.
Oh, Fire element all the way ever since Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

lightning always dominates in every game ever
Didnt really notice any difference with putting all my points in to one element, my damage was still the same, and I took the same amount of damage.
I'm an archer, so wind seems like it would be most effective.
Any idea if elements effect the War disciplines besides resistance?
Half my points will go to lightning, and then a quarter each to water and wind, since I've always liked the lightning element, and my character's last name will be Stormwind.
I heard someone say that the higher a certain type of element is increases the chances of getting that type of crystal as ab uten drop off enemy npcs. can anyone verify
It doesn't matter for me
I wonder if it will relate to crafts in any way?
For example a Blacksmith would want to max out Fire, and Earth.
Fire...idk why exactly i'm hoping it will be most compatible with melee jobs.
I'm hoping it won't really matter, but I usually have high hopes for Earth as it always gets the short end of the stick in most installments. Maybe Earth will be great one day.
I emptied everything into fire(114) to see if Red Lotus Blade's damage would increase. Nothing changed. However I did resist alot of attacks from the bombs and fire elementals during the Cederwood leves. In the attributes menus it says Elemental Resistance, I dont think that, at least during the beat, that it will have an effect on crafting or damage.
Strange my friend and I did a test on his character. We were thinking of the FFXI elemental wheel and the elements that are strong to an element, weak to an element, and neutral. After a bit he thought to put points into dark elements in order to increase the resistance of dark spells and increase his light spells. Yes I understand it's a little far out there and kooky, but he decided to try anyway.
Before he allocated point, we tested to see what his average hit on Scourge and Banish were. They were both doing about 40 points of damage on average. His level was 9 when we tested this out.
After allocating points to dark elements e.g. Wind, Earth, Thunder on his Thaumaturge; his Scourge spell didn't differentiate, but his Banish was hitting for about 80 points of damage on average.
Now, we by no means had a parser program or anything, we simply just jotted down the numbers and the monsters and took an average. It's not to say that this confirms anything, but it was just the results that we found. It could have been a glitch, it could have been many other variables, but it was just what we saw from this experiment.
I'm in testing out this theory on elemental resistances with melee to see if this has any affect on Critical Modifiers, or Evasion in any way; I doubt it, but eh, it's beta and it's free to experiment with for now.
Aren't these elements for resistance only?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I would pick Wind for my lalafell rng though...acc and speed^^
i love how the three highest choices are the primary element types from old FFs.
