    Buzzing from speakers

I have some cheap dookie $50 Logitech 2.1 system for my PC. I like it for the most part except for the fact that there is no control for the subwoofer.

    My problem is this.

Recently, my speakers developed some sort of buzzing sound. When the sound would start, the sound coming from my PC would get really low and the subwoofer wouldn't output any sound whatsoever. However, if I wiggle the jack/cable, it starts to work again if left just right. I can actually hear the buzzing noise if I simply touch the metal connector when it's not inserted into my mobo. Is there any way I can rig the connector without having to buy a new set of speakers? I have my priorities set on new hardware in other places, so a set of new speakers just doesn't sound appealing right now.

Is the mini plug hardwired into the speakers? If it's just like a mini to RCA or mini to mini cable just go to Radioshack and replace it.

Edit: Also, in order to figure out whether it's the jack or the plug you can plug a set of headphones in it. If the headphones sound like shit too it's the jack and not the plug. It's probably the plug itself though, in my experience the stereo ones (tip ring sleeve) go bad fairly easily. The buzzing when you touch the plug is normal, all speakers do it.

Yeah, it's hardwired. Is that what the problem is though? Nothing I can do to fix besides replace?

i had this problem before and it ended up being the wire, if you don't get any feedback when you plug some headphones in to the same audio-port that you use for your speakers it's unfortunately the cable from the speakers (happened to my cheap-o altec lansings i had a few years ago), you can recable it but since they're like a 50$ set of speakers you're better off finding a new set to be honest, plenty of good/great options from the 75-150 range nowadays
