They better not nerf it at all, Abyssea was the first thing they did right in a long time. Hopefully this is to add auto translations that were left out, and fix item descriptions, (like the perle set on the English client saying the set adds 5% haste,) since I was told by all accounts that it's supposed to be equal to the homam set.

Too bad the player's "right" and the devs "right" aren't always the same thing.

They might just nerf it for jobs under level 75. Me and my friend each got SAM from 70 to 78/80 in one run, and one LS mate managed to rack up a lot of exp from level 60 after building up his exp/mob from a low base.

Hopefully this is to fix certain color lights not (consistently?) dropping from certain Abyssea mobs, as opposed to the nerf we all fear.

I hope they phrase it like "we have adjusted the way certain mechanics work in Abyssea" and release it right after the update begins to troll us with the tease.

I'd bet against them making Abyssea XP worse - right now, seeing people get 75-80 in one alliance is a great advertisement for their $10 piece of add-on content.

    "Wahhh Abyssea."

Have you not stopped to consider that they found something wrong with the game?

I'm trying to figure out why a lot of you think it's to "fix abyssea exp." I do believe this was all SE's intention. (The entire "We would like for people without much time to enjoy FF, blah blah")

They still have a lot of spaghetti code and random glitches to fix (like Spirit Link with Empathy merits destroying a Proc/Shell V buff casted on a DRG), along with many many North American translation errors. Then just about all JA or new spells have not been added to the Auto Trans.

    Edit: Beaten by Cairthenn, lol.

I just entered a canyon run and the traverser stones only gave me 3 minutes each. I'm going to guess this matinence has to do with that. Possibly related to the Abyssite of whatever?

Yes, I think it was their intention to make Abyssea the way it is right now, but there still could be something they overlooked which would make the event "too good".

I can count on one hand the number of times SE has discovered something wrong with their game before it was fairly widely available knowledge. And yes, there are definitely things wrong still with the game caused by the update. The long pause between this and the last update could be SE making sure they got everything.

Also, on the lines of Abyssea XP being the FFXI-solution for the casual player:
Really? Does the casual player spend 5 consecutive hours playing?

If their goal was to make FFXI casual-friendly, SE failed. Abyssea rewards the people who stick it out for the most hours in a row. When we figure out how lights work and how to be more efficient pumping up our strengths (and stop bringing a bunch of THFs and PUPs to Abyssea as DDs with no bards and a BLU pulling), we'll probably be able to get good/capped XP in ~1 hour, and possibly net 80k XP in a 1.5 hour 3-stone run. *That* is casual player friendly. "Stick it out for 5 hours and get 75->80+buffer+11 merits" is not.

Does that mean all those new mobs popped in abyssea go back into oblivion for the time being?

Yeah abyssea only starts to be fantastic at the 400xp/kill mark, so about 2hrs in.. It's not a casual solution, it rewards the more hardcore for sure since in 5:30hrs I went from 76-80 (capped) and 10 merits worth of xp lol. that's the opposite of casual

Then perhaps they're adjusting it so it IS more casual friendly. Higher drop rates on time chests? They DID hard cap it at 120 minutes, so who's to say it'll be a bad thing if time drops after you've been in say, 30mins and drops every 5-10mins if you kill fast enough.

We know of at least 2 glitches involving stones that are pretty serious for those who have it happen.

    1. People randomly getting 3 minute for a stone even when they go from 0 time.
    2. If you don't get visitant status and you have stored time it disappears.

In all honesty both of these are emergency maint. worthy. It's also been mentioned that some mobs are not giving lights and that may or not be intended.

Although I am pleased that I managed to get all of my jobs to 80 so I can be a bit more relaxed in regards to the exp situation.

It rewards the "casual" players that maybe only play one or two days a week.

Some people also seem to have an infinite supply of stones. I have yet to run out of stones and I've been spamming the fuck out of Abyssea while my buddy has to wait on Joachim.
