No opinions inserted. Facts are as they are. The middle east accomplished more in the ways of science and math during the years 1000-1160ish than any other civilization since the Greeks, and the decline was brought about by a religious zealot who furthered a movement citing science and mathematics as the devils work.

He supported burning and pillaging of all sites of knowledge and learning and supported the stoning of all who valued knowledge over Allah.

This is all historical fact. These are also the tenements that survived and flourished for centuries afterwards, fueling the dominance of the Ottoman empire.

The middle east have never recovered to the standing they once held in terms of a hotbed of intellectualism.

Just because I can understand some modicum of a line of thought they may be feeling about having a building that contains a muslim place of worship close to a building that was bombed by terrorists doesn't mean I feel that their thoughts and actions are entirely justified.

If the building was a Hispanic American youth center, you'd have the same people outside of New York crying that wasting money on a building that "somehow" promotes illegal immigration. You can't reason with these people.

no you would be right to say people need to get over the attack. Its in the past, and I think we have answered their attack darn well. My point was just to point out how some people have not got over it. I understand why they might not want to have it where they are placing it.

Still people need to tell them they are wrong. In the end it will be built, so it wont have any effect at all on the outcome.

Exactly, which is why I made the case that we should label Christans based on what the publicity the Klan and Westboro church gets. Or perhaps Catholicism as whole should be labeled as baby raping, dick touching fgts. There is obvious rage over even the thought of a Mosque being built anywhere near Ground Zero. It's likely if it is built, well, someone even crazier than I will put together the next Hutaree and take the thing down. Now you've got the next big "Homegrown Terrorist" threat. I do see where you are coming from, and that is why I did point out that 90% of the people have no right at all to be mad. A racist is a racist. Im talking about people such as myself who had 2 or 3 or even more friends and family killed in the attack. My Step Mother who use to work in one of the buildings(7 I want to say) said that like half of her old team was badly hurt or killed.

Not the white guy named joe who would kill anyone who is not white. The people who where effected first hand by the attacks.
