I think this is more a commentary on the public that we need pictures of an epic command room worthy of wing commander in order to feel like bp is making an adequate response

Agreed, it reminds of something similar from Fareed Zakaria about the public as well as the media needing to see visible rage from the President in regards to the oil spill to feel like something is being done.

It's kind of stupid how we can get caught up in this until someone points out the ridiculousness of it.

Why am I not surprised that the two heads shopped into this are Thad Allen and a BP exec (not Hayward or Suttles.. I'm trying to match him up now) ? Perhaps BP thought it would look good if they showed people running the show "hard at work".

I think it's pretty obvious that 2nd one isn't "shooped" in order to change any info, just to make the projection screen look better. I don't think they changed those two guys' faces at all.

Actually, now that I looked closely at the pictures, the 2nd one, isn't necessarily faked at all. They made a (VERY SHITTY) selection of the projected screen and darkened it by a lot so you could at least see that something was actually being projected and it wasn't just a big blown-out white wall. The terrible selection that was made just happened to overlap those two dopes' fat heads and darkened them too (along with some slivers on the two sides). That's not necessarily a "shoop," it's just really bad post work.
