So I'm guessing the UI isn't really changeable via addons or anything? I've been looking to get into a new MMORPG (haven't really played one for more than 1-2 weeks after quitting WoW almost a year ago) and I've been thinking of grabbing this game for a few days now.

Ah, are the Titans in this game the ones they used in the animated version? or the real titans from the Comics? Curious which route they went.

As far as 'low monthly subscription'... isn't the 15$ USD range in the higher side of things? I mean.. FFXI was what.. 11.95? or 12.95.. I dunno. I don't really have major issues in it.. just a huge cash-sink over time.

Ahh, so Nightwing's moved on, and Donna Troy replaced him. That's cool.

Nightwing was a part of the Raven possession storyline, but I dunno if he's an official member anymore. He hangs out in Gotham a lot.

Beat Smallville today, it was very easy. Don't let the medium difficulty and recommended Tier 1 scare you, it's really really easy. Still a fun instance ithough and the final fight is epic, you team up with 4 heroes/villains vs Doomsday. Also, if you havn't made it a habit to collect feats as you're leveling- do it now. I've been grinding feats at lvl30 to catch up on skillpoints- some of my guild members have 40+ now while I'm only at 27. >.<

Ran into Brody from Notorious Gentlemen on the roof of Gotham PD. Is that one of you Zero Hour villains?

So I've been keeping up with this thread because me and a friend are looking to get into a fun MMO (he's a huge comic fan) and wanted to give this a shot to see how it goes. Does anyone have a free Buddy Pass they don't mind giving away to a fellow BGer so I can try it out and see if it's worth the purchase?

Just buy the game. The game is incredibly polished with minor issues here and there. The production values immerse you in the game world since everything is voiced. There is always something to do in the game, such as finding points of interest or completing race events, earning achievements, pvp, completing bounties etc. Honestly, you can treat this like a singleplayer game because getting to level 30 is ridiculously easy and fun. Then do it all over again as the opposing side. The greatest thing about the game is that they put you in the action right from the get go; you're not killing rats and bugs and slowly grinding your way to the fun stuff. And the game is going to get better with time, this is SOE not Square Enix- they know how to run an MMO.

Well said. I'm sad I couldn't find this game anywhere in the SF bay area today =[ Hopefully better luck tomorrow or else I'll just order from amazon. I want to play now though lol.

This may be a stupid question, as I've never had experience with PVP and PVE servers before, but once you level up a character on say a PVE server, would you be able to take that character on a PVP server? Or would you have to completely level up a new character on that PVP server?

You'd have to level a new character, but you could also just toggle on PVP on the PVE server.

I love it, but I should have picked a PVE server :/. Getting ganked all the time ._., Playing a char named Pink Panther inspired by Catwoman on Bloodstorm lvl 12 atm. Its really refreshing, the only frustrateing part is the ganking. I miss tough the huge options to create your hero/heroin that champions online had. Also missing the option to use a whip ._. and an option to actually communicate with the other side in say mode ¬.¬, makes no sense to me why they shouldnt be able to communicate together. I need to seduce some batmanfanboys badly! (why is there no RP server anyway?). Gotham is definitly the city you want to start, has such a better atmosphere then metropolis

Is there certain addumed job roles for people depending on their abilities in group stuff? Like are there abilities that would make you a primary healer, tank, support, etc?

Yeah, there are. Every power can fill a damage role. Then there's tank, healer and another called controller roles. Controller roles restore power(mana) to other group members and can be VERY helpful.

You can switch between roles though when you're out of combat. Fire and Ice have tank roles. Gadget and Mental are the controller roles and then Nature and Sorcery are the healer roles. Again, every power can fill a damage role.

Your powers dictate what your role in a party would be (plus damage dealing). Ice/fire powers are for tanking, mental/gadgets are for crowd control, and nature/sorcery are for healing. Though all the job also have damage dealing capabilities. You can actually toggle your role after level 10 and get a bonus in that role.

Definitely need to be sneaky sometimes when doing missions if there's a lot of people from the opposite team around, which I think is fun... and when we're all max level I'm sure being on a PVP server will be way more fun as you can create havoc around the city instead of just standing around waiting for a raid to begin.

might be fun but I dont know, anyway what DCUO is missing is a Archnemesis option like in Champions online. Not exactly the same, instead of creating your archnemesis, you get assigned to a player on the other side!

Hmmm don't think I could handle a healer role very well. Never have been fond of trying to keep people alive, I get too much of a kick out of watching people die thinking I'm going to heal them. It might be fun soloing so you can keep yourself alive, but in a group it would be boring for me.

You only need 8 people to raid, and you can queue up instantly for it. There is no reason to World PVP besides War of the Ring, and those rewards aren't that great. Endgame PVP consists of Arenas and you don't need to be on a PVP server to do that. Not to mention the fact that all feats and achievements revolve around arenas. The only thing being on a PVP does is subject you to random ganks, and if that's your idea of fun, more power to you.

I would also like to mention that there are a lot of quests that simply cannot be completed safely on a PVP server. Some have you go into heavily populated enemy zones, and use a kiosk which freezes your character for a 10s cutscene, making you a sitting duck at the mercy of a dozen enemies. This is worst if you're a villain because it's the general consensus that heroes outnumber villains atleast 3 to 1 on EVERY server.
