Why do people always go with good over evil? Why would you want to save some old woman who's probably going to die of a heart attack in the next few weeks when you can unleash total hell by blowing up entire city blocks just because it's Tuesday and you fucking hate Tuesday.

What's the guild on Zero Hour people from BG made? Can you invite people to a legion if they're offline? My name's Gordon on villian side of Zero Hour.

I'd like to come up with a villain and have a member of that league too. My heroes are Grit and Lady Stardust.

There's no BG Guild, the guild I'm in, Notorious Gentleman, is a random one I joined when I began the game. If you want to join Notorious villains we're currently only seeking Sorcery Healers or any Controllers. We have too many tanks atm.

Ah, I thought that was a BG guild. If somebody starts one I wouldn't mind having an alt in it.

There is no say communication between Hero and Villian but there is the /versus chatmode which is off by default. Not many know about it :/
Also the community voted the unofficial PvE server as Vice and Virtue and the Unofficial PvP server is Death & Glory.

Something fun to do on a PvE server:
    1) Go to the Green Lantern quest zone where you revive and defend the recruits.
    2) Flag PVP, and kill any recruits the enemy side is trying to protect
    3) ???
    4) Profit

Who says you gotta be on a PVP server to world pvp? ;P Instigating a fight is much more fun, and villainous.

Can anyone explain the Controller stuff a little more? Answers I get seem to go all over the damn place. I'm on the fence with picking this up by this weekend and rather waste time making a dozen different characters I wanted to get an idea of what each power can do.

I really wanted to do a tank type job but I hear there is a huge overflow of fire and ice players. That most likely won't stop me from playing one, just probably not immediately.

Just a few clarifications/questions I had just to make sure I have it all straight.

Fire- Tank via burning enemies with heavy damage and healing yourself with the fire
Ice- Tank via using ice as shield and damage reduction

    Nature- Healer and poison plants
    Sorcery- Healer and Summoner

Mental- Support using mind fuckery enfeebles crap
Gadgets- Support using traps and crap and buffs people

I could be way off on those descriptions, probably shows the depth of my lack of knowledge.

For some questions, if there some kind of auction house system? What is money used for? If there's not an auction house type of system I'm assuming money is just used to buy stuff like soda and maybe new gear styles?

Movement stuff seems to be pretty different. It seems flying has a huge bonus cause you can hover, fly straight up whenever you want, and you can fight while flying around. Where as Acro and Speed can't fight while using their movement abilities. Flying is slow overall compared to how fast other people can move but you can fly so you can easily go over crap where everyone else has to climb. Acro's are great as long as you have a building to climb up and you can move around with the grappling hook or something and line of sight crap easily by zipping around corners of buildings and you can glide, basically this sounds like a slight combination of speed and flight but not fully up to the power of either. Speed is a really fast way to move around but it's hard to control and you run into crap a lot slowing you down.

Weapons seems to have all the advatages and disadvantages one would expect. To give yourself and advantage you want to keep yourself at a distance using ranged weapons. 2 handed weapons are slow as hell but when you get hit by one you know it. If you want to still do dps while in groups and you're a support/healer you want to make sure you are a ranged weapons user cause you don't want to get up close and personal in some group stuff.

As for mentors, it seems a lot of it comes down to personal preference of who you like. But apparently you get some fancy armor from then later on with their missions. Now for this is it advised to pick the mentor according to what kind of player you're making or does it really matter. Will the armor be effective across the board or is it geared towards the type of background the mentor has? Like say you choose Batman and you go duel wield nature. But the armor is more for a Gadgets player since Batman leans towards that?

Alot of these may sound like stupid questions but a solid portion of the information I find is severely incomplete and/or it's written by a 12 year old that comes across as having an education level of a 4 year old.

Right now I'm thinking about a Mental Duel Guns Flying Baddie. Flying around throwing cars at people sounds like fun.

In regards to movement, I've tried all 3 and definitely prefer flight, especially on a PvP server. If you have a ranged attack you can kill stuff from above and it's easier to find stuff for quests. Super Speed is kind of glitchy in that you'll run up everything and with acrobatics if you jump too close to a wall you'll grab onto it which can be annoying. But that's just my experience and I know some people prefer the other two.

Your assessment of weapons is right on, just be aware that fast weapons generally require more complex button presses for combos. So you better like spamming buttons if you pick one.

Mentors don't really matter, you do quests from all 3 anyways, from my understanding it's just where you start the game.

Also I think your build would be good, dual guns I hear is pretty strong. But as I mentioned earlier, play something you like the first time through to learn the ropes, then if you like the game enough and feel like leveling something else the second time then go for it.

Yeah I know wall of text, sorry. I just like to have a lot of information before I start something so I can also justify the price tag. Either way if/when I do start I'm sure my wife will flip anyway cause it's another MMO. But maybe, just maybe I can talk her into playing too lol.

I will most likely pick up the PC version even though I would love to play on my plasma, my kids would be pissed that they're missing their Spongebob. I'm hoping I can either get the freeware to use my PS3 controller on my PC or pick up a decent PC controller, other than a Xbox style one, I just hate how awkward they feel to use.

So what's the deal with the money then? I understand you can do repeatables to get stuff that you can use to buy specific gear/style.

Kisamoo can probably comment more on the end-game but I've just been rolling with gear I've acquired off of bosses and haven't spend a dime yet as I'd rather not buy gear I'll level out of in a couple days. Also you can re-spec for a fee (first time is $500, increases after that) so if you mess up your skills a little it's not the end of the world.

So there is a broker/auction house available? Or just NPCs you can buy crap off of?

I know you meant "rolling" as "wearing" but I have a question about rolling on gear, and it's more to do with DCUO etiquette than anything else. All the instances I've ran so far, most every time something drops, people just greed it. I hit need on a pair of pants that were a huge upgrade for me, and some guy in the group goes "not cool man, roll greed plz" after distribution. Am I some asshole? Need means you need it, right? I'm confused why it "wasn't cool." I played WoW for a few years so I'm familiar with the system, but the DCUO community seems to be a little more frou frou/carebear/whatever than most online communities I've seen.

Money is used to buy coke and repair your gear, nothing else, really. I havn't bought a single piece of gear, except for the Tiered armor.

Respecing is a bit weird, it will go from 500-1500 then reset back to 500, so feel free to respec as much as your heart desires because money isn't all that hard to come by, unless you're a coke fiend lol.

As for movement, Acro/Speed is better for PvP but flight is better for PvE. If you're a healer, I would recommend flying just because you need to be mobile, and it's just safer overall to be in the air. Flight is almost completely useless in PVP though, you won't be able to run away unless you have 50% Supercharge for the blast off skill, which will make you immune to damage and control and send you flying.

As for weapons there are a lot of considerations:
Damage - Hand blasters, Two handed, most melee skills.
Energy Generation- Rifle and Dual Pistols because you can hold right click to autofire and maintain a constant flow of power regeneration. Pistols for AOE autofire and Rifle for singletarget autofire. The key here is that you're able to generate power safely and constantly.
Defensive - Staff seems to be the big winner here, though I don't know much about it, I just see most tanks using staff.
In general, look at the [innates] in each tree, and you'll have a general idea of the benefits each tree will provide.

There's no auction house or player economy which I think is a big plus because I'd rather complete quests and objectives to aquire my gear than farm money mindlessly. Plus, no economy = no gold farmers.

As for rolling need on loot in a PUG, you're not doing anything wrong- that guy was just a dumbass. If you're going to wear it, then need it, pretty simple.

DCUO is definitely less hardcore than every MMO I've played (Aion, FFXI, FF14, Champions, etc) but if you wanted that kind of game you're better off waiting for Rift. I like to think of DCUO as a singleplayer game I can play online.

I feel like such a newb when I roll need on something I need for that exact reason, but fuck them, that's what it's for. Especially since currency is practically worthless. I spent all of my credits buying styles I didn't have yet for some easy feats.

Amen to this - one of the best parts of the game IMO.

So true it hurts. I like how I can actually play this game for a few hours and have fun instead of grinding, wasting time camping crap or competing against botters.
