You're a hero on Zero Hour?
I usually don't join alerts without being in a pre-made group.

Yeah, I'm on Zero Hour. Calia is the toon I play the most, level 30 sorc. I've got one of just about everything though, but that's my only 30 atm
Had no idea. I'll add you to my friends list (my main is Grit). If you need a league or any help with anything, look me up.
So I picked this up today for my PS3 and my PS3 got the black screen of death :/ fitting...
Finally half way done with my tier1 gear for controller... it's pretty amazing though how much hate controller pulls if your tank is even mediocre. I'm still having a lot of fun playing though and if any PS3 players want an invite to a decent league just let me know.
It's funny I've rerolled a character over 10 times. Can't make up my mind what I wanna be
Ok so turned on my PS3 this morning and it was working again.
Started my hero on No Man's Land and got to level 5 before FFXI and Superbowl took me away:
Captain Broncho (joke from college)
Speed-Mental-Brawler
So this weekend was a riot. I was doing a few of the quests I missed so on my level 15 Nature toon I was clearing a level 5 quest. While I'm wresking through everything to get the quest over with a Villian comes rolling right on top of me and stars swinging. Now I'm on a PvE server, so I have no idea what he was thinking.
So he stands there staring at me for a minute and starts following me around. I figure wth may as well teach goof ball a lesson. He had his pvp tag already up while he was swinging on me so I put mine on. He immediately runs away. He comes back down a few seconds later and we start fighting. I notice he pulls off a few ice moves, so I at least know what role he is.
Now mind I'm not focuing too heavily on gear for this toon so basically the level 10 and below crap I'd been getting as rewards is all I have to fight with. So naturally being a healer I use my healing abilities. This was the beginning of the end. He immediately runs away and I chase him all over about 6 square blocks of Gotham. I catch up, smack him around a few times, he starts losing, he runs. This cat and mouse goes on for like an hour. I finally get bored of fighting just to watch him run when he can't keep up so I take off to the police station.
I afk for like 5-10 minutes and I come back out and I see this guy just standing there in front of the police station waiting for me to come out. So I figured maybe, just maybe he won't run away this time. Sure enough we'd fight he'd get low and run away. I didn't chase him this time and he would eventually come back and he'd try again. One funny moment was when he got too close to the giant robot guards next to the station and he got launched a few hundred yards.
He finally disappears and I join up with an Alert group. Mid run I start getting tells asking me where I went, and I should meet him at some Gotham building so we can fight like real men. I told him I didn't have any interest in fighting a guy who runs the moment he starts losing, I didn't join a PvP server so I don't feel like chasing him around for the next hour.
He starts going on a huge rant about how I'm cheap and cheating because I used my healing abilities, and eventually calls me cheap for using my guns on him. Apparently in his mind we should be fighting with just our fists, which is all fine and dandy if I chose something like... Brawling or Martial Arts... but apparently that didn't quite register with him and all I would be doing is mash a button if I wanted to swing on him. Frankly the idea of that was quite boring, but he thought it was a show of manliness. Apparently real men fight with their fists, I told him he must be the kind of guy that brings a knife to a gun fight.
Just to screw with him I kept asking him "You mad bro?" which just seemed to piss him off more and him going off saying I don't know what mad is, and I wouldn't want to see him mad cause he's a real man. Eventually I told him I wanted to keep him around for entertainment purposes and I friended him, he proceeded to log on and I didn't hear from him anymore.I may have to send him a mail soon just to get him to log on and entertain me again.
I have three heroes on Zero Hour, still haven't decided which one I wanna main.
Two-Handed, Fire, Acrobats named Enkelados,
Martial Arts, Mental and Superspeed named Tactician, or
Brawling, Ice and Flight named Forecast.
Having fun playing all three @_@
I'm on my 3rd level 30 toon. I've done a Fire and Mentalist so far, working on Nature now. I'm playing them all to see which one I like most before I focus all my efforts into one. Leveling is so easy in this game it only take a few days of casual playing to hit 30. Just hit up every quest and every add-on quest in the area of the main quest and you're set.
I'd like to remind any heroes on Zero Hour that they can send me a tell or add me to their friends list on Grit if they're looking for a league to join. Everyone is welcome.
Game is ZzZ, the entire guild pre-ordered Rift. lol. We don't have high hopes for the next patch and will probably quit if this is the rate we're going to get content. Most of us are capped Tier 1, 2+ pieces of Tier 2, 50+ skill points, literally NOTHING LEFT TO DO.
^lol
Oh, I thought the game was still in beta? I hear about people getting to the level 30 cap instantly so figured it was still beta. Amazingly enough, I started browsing the Rift forums a bit more after your post and it's looking pretty solid. No, really solid. I always thought this game was a joke though. Just sayin', coming for a TERA whore.
The leveling isn't the problem, its the fact that raids only take 1 hour each to do once you know them. When you can clear a raid in an hour, it isn't a 'raid' anymore, it's an instance lol. The next patch is only releasing 1 quest line for Catwoman, 1 duo (lol tier1 farming for noobs), and 1 raid which we'll probably down on day 1. We dominate PVP on our server as well, and by dominate I mean perfect scores and zero deaths on our side. I just can't imagine them ramping up the difficulty enough for this game to be a challenge when 95% of the playerbase cannot clear raids as is. Just seems like the raid content is gonna boil down to multiple 1-hour instances which is absurd considering there's a 1 week lock out timer; and after you clear a raid you cannot get any items whatsoever from the bosses anymore, making multiple runs moot. Far as I remember, raids had a 1 week lockout timer to give a guild sufficient time to clear challenging and long instances, not to cockblock the rate at which you can farm gear and marks.
DC seems geared a lot more towards casual game players. If you're a college/hs aged kid and you can spend 10+ hours a day playing, yeah you're going to blow right through the game. Gear, money and everything else are pretty damn easy to get in comparison to other games out there where you can run an instance 50+ times and never see the drop you're looking for.
I'm sure they're holding a great deal of content back. I have no doubt a lot of MMO's out there hold back a great deal of content, it's a business at the end of the day. This game is still not even a month out from release and they're doing updates.
Hell I don't know how long I will even keep playing. I doubt I will ever put in a time commitment like I have other MMO's like XI/WoW where some people put well over 5 years into a game. If anything I hope games like Rift and TERA kick ass so there's some decent competition out there and push these developers to produce a worth a fuck product.
As for the gear being so easy to obtain, there's two sides to that coin. You either have a game that the gear is moderate to easy to obtain, or you have a game that rely on a .01% drop rate. I haven't seen any worth a shit MMO to date that's found a happy medium to that problem. I don't want to be handed some of the best gear in the game, but I sure as hell don't want to spend 9 months+ of running an instance 2+ times a day hoping for a drop that never happens.
For the comment that the raids only last about an hour now, I personally don't see anything wrong with that. I don't want to sit in an instance for 3+ hours bored out of my fucking mind (hi2u Dynamis). Granted the lock out timer does suck and if enough people complain about it then it will probably get addressed.
Maybe I'm just showing my age now, but I play games just to have fun and relieve stress and get that mental escape. I don't want to play a game and stress myself out over petty crap. If leveling/instances/whatever else floats your boat isn't enjoyable there are thousands of other games out there you can play online and off.
I never thought I would see it where people would complain that the game isn't enough of a time sink. I guess you can't make people happy all the time.
This. Taking my blinders off that I like the game, I think you're being a bit of an elitist Kisamoo. If playing MMOs for hours on end day after day to "beat" the game is what you want to do then go for it, but I'd definitely say you're in the minority of people playing this game. As I already said in this thread, if you're looking for and expecting DCUO to be a grandiose MMO like FFXI or WoW then it's not the game for you.
Personally I'm in the same boat as Dark where I used to be like you with FFXI, having 5 level 75 jobs and camping shit all day. But now my "age" has kicked in and I'm more focused on my career goals and aspirations. Sure I love gaming and I probably always will but my days of playing for hours on end are pretty much over. If you want to sit through hours of epic raids that's fine, but I simply can't do it anymore which is why a game like DCUO appeals to me. My free time is limited now and popping on for an hour or two to do alerts suits my lifestyle perfectly because I can accomplish something without setting aside an entire afternoon or evening just to play a video game.
Yeah, I'm kind of with them on this one. While I can appreciate where you're coming from, I definitely enjoy the game as a lighter alternative. It's not for lack of time, but playing FFXI for about six years kind of broke my will. Even Aion, a much much much much more forgiving game than FFXI, seems to go out of it's way to make me groan and facepalm. I enjoy that DCUO isn't breaking my back and I can enjoy it as much or as little as I like in a day and still get somewhere.
Ditto.
Problem is you and your Guild are comparing new MMOs to already well established MMOs. Can tell you right now ffxi didn't have much content aside from random bc's and gear other reskined leather highboots every 5th levels 1 month out aside from some rank missions.
