While we’re still waiting to see what free shit Sony will pull out of its magic bag, Sony Online Entertainment is slightly quicker on the draw… at least in regards to DC Universe Online.

Subscribers to the game will get a free 30 days of play time in addition to one day for every day the game is unavailable. Also, all players will get the above Batman-themed mask. Not bad, but if your bank account is drained thanks to the credit leak, odds are you aren’t coming out ahead of that one.

Thought this was a dead game, given only one server is left for each region / console. Game sure died fast, shoulda been f2p from the start and it would have been much more successful

Game has been offline for 2+ weeks for PS3 users and it looks like it will continue to be offline when PSN comes back thanks to SOE problems. I'll keep playing for the free subscription but doubt I will keep going after that. Game was fun for about 2 weeks and a pure grind after that which is why it died so quickly. SOE just fails on so many levels I wish someone had warned me about their craptastic game history before I bought this. PC version is already on clearance racks at some stores and as a last-ditch effort they are going to create 4 "super servers" via server merge for PC and PS3 because most worlds are dead.

I thought SOA servers were only brought down recently? PSN issues didn't affect them (thought PS3 users could still connect), and they didn't bring them down until SOA then got hacked lol.

You need to be signed into PSN to connect to the SOE servers sadly just the way they have it set up. PC users were able to play though until they brought the SOE servers down.

Ya, I've had to give up on this game as well. I had like 3 30s decked in raid gear/T2 already but was still having fun. This 2 almost 3 weeks outage killed it for me though. I'd probably still be going if not for this outage, but I'm moving on to Tera... if I could get through the patch phase lol. If it does become F2P though I'd probably jump back on for a little, but knowing me I'd probably be devoting all my time and energy to Tera once the NA servers start up.

Looks like Chris Cao is leaving SOE, I don't know if that is a good thing or not.

In a new post on the DC Universe Online forums, it has been confirmed that Chris Cao is indeed leaving Sony Online Entertainment. While not mentioning Cao by name, the producer's letter introduces "new game director Mark Anderson". The letter also talks about Update 3 and progress the team is making towards getting out.

Finally, I would like to announce that we have a new Game Director for DC Universe Online, Mark Anderson. Mark was the Art Director for DCUO at launch and was dually responsible for the game’s combat system. Joining us from the God of War team, Mark has over the years been one of the most creative and passionate members of the DCUO team and we are very excited for the vision he has for the game moving forward. If you see Mark (aka MAnderson) in the forums make sure to say hi and tell him to get back to work.

This game is dying fast, I was in one of the best leagues on our server and we have went from running 3 full raid groups every week to not even having enough people online at the same time to run one group. It's not just us either, other leagues are struggling even worse than we are and some are merging because so many people are quitting. Between the freezing, lack of gear, PVP glitches, constantly running the same content over and over, on and on... there's little motivation to play. The new content strategy is all messed up, no new raids or gear for several months and it won't be released until everyone's "free subscription" from the PSN outage runs out. Game seems doomed to me.

Makes me sad, I really liked the game while I played it, but it didn't give me a lot of incentive to keep it going.

My problem has been I have gotten tired of the "Sword and Magic" MMOs.. been looking for an action MMO to play. Been using my 45 free days since I did open and closed beta for it, and having now. If the megaservers beef up population a lot, then I would be set for StarWars MMO.

I'm on public enemies. I noticed on this server, not too many people in Gotham, but a helluva lot of players in the JLA tower. So people are there, just hang out there it seems...

Loved this game during beta/open beta and with free 45 days I kind of want to redownload. Got to 30 pretty fast and had nothing to do. Same story still?

New raids have been added in. One of the newer raids is that Brainiac has taken over the batcave, gotta stop him from doing it completely. Honestly, I have been having fun. If you play, let me know on Guyverarmor and Logitek. Both are on Public Enemies server (pvp)
