Mob placement in XIV is terrible, Lost Ewes are way off to the side and I only found them after I was far above the appropriate level (because I fought Wharf Rats in a cave no one else found, then Fireflies before going there).

There's honestly no reason to go to the spots where a lot of the unused camps are OTHER THAN the fact that everything else is taken and you're just wandering around hoping for some action. No one should have to do that.

If the information is already there for you, I don't have any sympathy for someone who is too lazy to read through it. Or you can simply check it for something that is not explained to you well enough in-game, you don't even have to read the whole thing.

People shouldn't be forced to read the manual. SE isn't forcing anyone to read a manual. Yet, it's there should people want to read it. If you want to figure it out by yourself, that is just fine. Having said that if you decide NOT to read the manual, you should NOT be allowed to complain that you don't know how to do things. You're opting out of your right to bitch that things aren't clear. They might be clear if you RTFM.

No one ever said they don't know how to do things. The conversation is about terrible mob placement and camps. I'd assume the manual doesn't give you step by steps of where every exp camp is which makes it moot trying to bring it up.

Thing is, many current day MMOs do hand-hold people on where they should go. Aion, WoW, and Warhammer all direct people on where they should be leveling at any given time. FFXIV is going against what a majority of MMO players are used to, what do you expect people would say/do?

To make it worse, The "Skull" camp has its guild leves marked as level 10, even though there are plently of places up there for level 3+ people to grind at. To me, this just seems like bad zone setup by Square Enix (or at least mis-represented areas).

Can you define the difference of having an in-game tutorial and "hand-holding"?

The main quest line is a pseudo tutorial. It needs a lot more depth into the how and not where and to possibly be extended for a few levels.

so alpha ended a couple weeks ago and were in closed beta now. on sept 30th the open beta starts, hopefully the game will be ready by march for the offical launch.

What languages will be in FFXIV?
Whether especially interests there will be Russian.
Because already it is a lot of fans in Russia FF.
But for some reason yet one part has not been translated into Russian.
Other languages are, and on the Russian consumer such sensation that simply spit.
In Russia have already localised Lineage 2, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft.
Therefore very much it would be desirable that also this game have translated into Russian.
