    ok
You based your "non-opinion" argument on speculated data that isn't held to any standard and involves, presumably, nothing more than a guy who has a sports fitness degree using the calculator application on Windows.

The assertions you made are based on data that is based on information that doesn't factually exist. If I make a website and make up numbers about how all people from Kentucky fuck their sisters and drag black people behind their trucks and call the name of my site, "racial studies" does that make me a reliable source of information?

Until you can quantify the level of physical exertion on some actual, real, existing level, you're making shit up and talking out of your ass.

Why am I continually surprised that the larger the level of stupid in the post, the more likely that the person posting hasn't even the slightest grasp on the discussion on hand in any way?

I should really cut the naivety.

I was mostly just bummed that I read through this whole post without there being ONE picture of a cheerleader.

Silly Sath, you won't get the information to your target audience if you put it on the internet, rednecks aren't there yet. Gotta put that shit on the back of a bottle of whiskey/moonshine or box of ammo.

That was my idea, don't steal it. Also, reaching for insults is pretty sad.

Also where did I ever say this was not an opinion? I clarified that for you twice, but i guess I am not allowed to clarify anything. My apologies.

No values given for the activity are alike. They do however show a trend and the trend is that baseball generally ranks in the bottom of listed "accepted" sports, slightly above golf and bowling. These are just what i could find with quick google searches. Academic search premier hasn't yielded anything relative yet.

The shit you post, before your **OPINION HERE LOL*** isn't an opinion, it's your attempt to back up your opinion with "facts" even though you keep failing.

I assume you're going to just keep posting information that has absolutely no validity whatsoever, trend or otherwise, since it doesn't have a baseline of any sort.

You obviously have no idea why you're incorrect, and why you look like such a huge fucking ass right now, so I won't bother pointing it out, but holy fuck lol.

My analogy was apt. So is this one:

Creationist 1: "I have an idea, let's establish a 'university' where we only accept and teach creationists and creationist values and arbitrarily hand out PhD's in scientific fields that have no value whatsoever since we're not accredited!"

    Creationist 2: "Great idea!"

    6 months pass

Creationist with "PhD" in Geology: "I am a PhD scientist in Geology and I disagree with the age of the Earth being older than 10,000 years!"

Creationist news feed all over the internet and Fox News:
"RENOWNED SCIENTISTS DISPUTE AGE OF EARTH! SUPPORT FOR 10,000 YEAR OLD EARTH RISES!"

That is what you're doing right now, just so you know.

Cheerleading does generate an extremely large amount of yearly revenue. I'd say easily more than Women's Softball or the WNBA, but honestly I'd be talking out of my ass.

    Gymnastics, eh, not so much.
Most every sport at a university aside from football will put athletic departments in the hole. Some basketball programs will get in the black, but even duke basketball lost over 2 million last year. I don't know about cheerleading revenue, but I'd venture to guess that isn't generating huge revenue by any stretch of the imagination, and if it is, it's pesos on the dollar.

Doesn't mean they're not generating media, clothing, and advertising revenue for the "number here" of companies and media outlets that support them. Cheerleading, Basketball, or any other sport. It's a huge market in almost every area besides, apparently, the school revenue.

Edit: Nvm. It's late and I have to get up early if I am going to be beating up my wife for spilling the meth. I also honestly doubt you have your own opinion on the subject.

I don't define a sport. I'm a guy who is posting on a MMORPG message board, not a chairperson for any of the international, national, and regional committees filled with experts, lawyers educated in precedent, fitness science PhDs, medical doctors, on and on and on, who determine the validity of a sport on the international, national, or regional level by extremely stringent baselines that have been long established.

You know, baselines that every current sport is held to and that are rooted in facts, evidence, and more data than you've probably ever looked at in your life?

I don't need to fucking define a sport. I have no standing to do so. I may as well sit here and arbitrarily define what a TV is, or arbitrarily declare the universal standard for differentiating a planet from kuiper belt object. Neither you, nor I, nor any other motherfucker here has any valid stance to say what is or isn't a sport.

Fuck, we don't even have 10% of the information required to properly form an opinion on the subject. Fuck shit damn, lol. People are so fucking stupid these days. "I should have a right to have an opinion that is held on equal footing as any other opinion or verdict on any subject because I think I know blah blah blah" shut the fuck up already, fuck.

My bad, thought you were referring to college revenues since this was a judgement on college athletics (and I guess high school to an extent). But yeah, I'd guess since every girl under 12 has owned at least one set of pom poms and cheer skirt, it's profitable.

According to Penn & Teller, who collected the information that I would never have had the patience to, and since it's not a solidly verifiable source I'm not gonna hold this as fact, but for girls starting out at age 7-ish in cheerleading it costs upwards of $1000 a year just for uniform, pom-poms, and other clothing. This is before any of the gym fees, association fees, competition fees, etc.

It's actually, to my narrow understanding, hugely exploited monetarily because of the fact that it isn't technically considered a sport and isn't held to the same standards.

Also, in the US at the high school level it is state and school board legislation, which as Texas has demonstrated, is based solely on the opinion of wealthy business owners with no knowledge of the subject at hand, that determines what is or isn't a sport. In almost all areas where competitive cheerleading is hugely profitable you see LARGE campaign contributions through a fuckton of subsidiary corporations for the private sector that controls most of the cheerleading equipment, apparel, and competition market.

It pays tens of millions of dollars a year to keep cheerleading as not a "sport" despite the potential health hazards to the girls and guys involved. Sickens me, really.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I'm starting to get the impression that bagel has NO concept of the difference between cheerleaders at a game vs. cheerleaders at a cheerleading competition.

Sorry, but there are some cheer leading compeition in europe area. So, thre is definitely a way to score. Unless you want to say that gymnastic is not a sport, then you may petition to olympic society to remove it.

My brother, who is a full time professional sports writer, has had a lot to say on the subject of what is and isn't a sport, and his rule of thumb is if people bet on it, at betting establishments. He says that's a pretty good indicator because of how broad the definition of sport is, so if you can walk into a vegas betting parlor and place a bet on it, chances are it's a sport.

    This isn't a democracy, it's a cheerocracy.
