Hey guys!

Going for a job interview next Tuesday and one of the key requirements of the job is to have a good working understanding of Microsoft Excel. Now im no stranger to it i know how it opens / cells / rows etc but thats about the limit of my knowledge. No skills or knowledge of formulae or anything.

Im lookin to see can i torrent a quick video guide or well known how to guide on excel if anyone has any good suggestions? Maybe excel for dumimes or something similar that would guide me through the interview with any questions they might throw at me.

Check your local library for any books on excel 2003/2007. Make sure you know how to use basic formulas, sum, average, max, min. It is not always easy to quickly pickup how to use excel without using it for a while and having a goal as to what you want to do/learn. Once you get into the more complex formulas this is where a lot of people start to have trouble understanding how to set them up.

Downloading a Lynda essentials video for it now. Even if i just do a few chapters or w/e it should help greatly.

Make sure your math skills are above preschool. We hired a guy recently who was about your level on Excel but teaching him has been fucking useless. The guy doesn't even know how to calculate one third of a number or how to multiply something by 15 percent. How can he learn Excel if he doesn't even know how to do simple math?

Interview went well, the job spec sheet actually made it out you needed to know more in excel than is actually required. Very little will actually be done in excel.

Got that Lynda tutorial video anyways so may aswell finish it so i have some knowledge.
