so I had an interview today for a great job and they hired me on the spot. Problem is, I have to do a drug screening first. Unfortunately it's with hair and not pee. I smoked probably once a week for the last 3 months.

Is there any way to maybe sorta beat the test? Hair is fucking hard to beat I've been reading, but heard rumors that the results vary, every person is different (ie fine, oily hair is less likely to carry it), and even that certain shampoos help to mask it (not even the scam ones websites try to sell, stuff like head and shoulders / pert). Does anyone know anything that could be helpful? Hard to find what's true and what's rumor when 99% of the websites are just scams trying to get you to buy their shitty product.

And no, you can't just shave your head, they can take it from anywhere on your body.

Try googling it. Also, might try looking up false-positives for THC, and see if there'a any medications you can try to say you were taking that could produce these results. Protonix is one that comes to mind off the top of my head.

The hair test isn't that easy to fool if they are having a halfway decent place analyze it, use some shampoo and such everyday and just cross your fingers. I had a friend get away with it by supposedly also getting a urine and such test since he claimed he might have some in his hair from living in the projects also, since hair can absorb weed smoke. I doubt it worked and he got lucky but if he comes back positive you can just claim it's a false positive for that reason and just try and take it again.

Although the test supposedly targets the hair for the compound that your body produces when it inhales weed and not the weed itself, but he got the job. Then lost it due to random drug screenings. And I've heard it stays in hair for 6 months, but a year wouldn't surprise me and I suppose would vary depending on the person.

Hair tests are usually for "harder" drugs aka Coca/Meth/Heroin. If you aren't doing any of those you should be OK. Don't sweat it.

I still think its rather stupid to get people to have these tests done. In Canada unless it is an occupational hazard, its illegal for any employer to ask for a drug test (ie. truck drivers can be breathalyzed).

It depends how much they cut for how much time they go back. Hair follicle tests are similar to blood tests and can go back years. Also, they aren't looking for weed smoke as drug screens of all types search for what the chemical you have inhaled/ingested/injected metabolizes into in the body. Doesn't matter how much you pee or how much you shave your hair. They pluck the root of the hairs from your head then get some of your pubic hairs. I suppose if you shaved close enough so they couldn't easily pull a sample the doctor may just get frustrated and reschedule.

The biggest problem is most hair sample tests simply need a partial residue in order to confirm you have consumed a drug (sometimes years ago as most people have pointed out). The oils in the marijuana tend to mix with sweat and chemicals in your skin and are absorbed naturally through the body. Just the mere touch can be detected and if you smoke often, the smoke you exhale will get all over as well. The best thing you can do is stop now and hope that there's a mg/% ratio and if it's under a certain gram percentage, you can get away with small habitual use. If you're a heavy smoker you might be screwed.
