For those who aren't aware, you can legally smoke marijuana in California. If his location is accurate, he should not be able to lose his job over this. Unfortunately, people who have obtained cards and can legally purchase weed from licensed dispensaries are treated as if they're in a state where it isn't legal. This should not be happening.

Additionally, the responses regarding my own usage of marijuana are as cute as they've always been. It endlessly entertains me that people assume someone who defends its usage must be a smoker. It's impossible to be educated on the subject otherwise, correct?

If you wanted to improve your life the first thing that should have gone were the drugs. I don't care if it was once in the past two months or once in the past two years. There are consequences and you deal with them until you're past them. It doesn't matter if you were too dense as a younger kid to realize the error of your ways, you still deal with the consequences. I dropped out of high school and now I realize it was a bad idea, does that mean I now immediately should be regaled for my intellect and have my errors ignored? Fuck no. I have to start back from scratch where I would've started 6 years ago.

I never once stated that I am going to continue to smoke and I should have no ramifications for doing so. I understand the consequences of my actions perfectly well, that doesn't mean that I can't try to bend around the rules and continue life. Plenty of people fight speeding tickets when they are only 2-3 miles over the limit, yet I don't see any talks about how they need to man up for their actions and just pay the fine. Sometimes shit happens and you do your best to make the best of the situation. I haven't smoked in over a month and have no plans on continuing until november when it becomes legal or until I can see a doctor to get it legally prescribed (absolutely have valid need for it too, just no health insurance right now).

Edit: Not to mention you were trying to get your shit together before I even came to Cerberus some 4? months ago, and you were still spending money on drugs? Or at the very least risking your circumstances to fucking get high?

You do not need health insurance to obtain a card.

Contact local physicians and ask what their needs are, and how much they charge for the recommendation. There are various fly-by-night outlets who do not provide truly legal cards and paperwork, so NORML's list is much more reliable.

I fully support the use of marijuana, but legally. If you're living in California but don't have a card yet, there's really no reason not to get one.

As a warning, however, even if you are legal, most places which drug test will still not hire you if your results return positive. You can take them to court over this, and there are plenty of lawyers who specifically fight cases like these. Whether you want all of that trouble, though, is your choice. It's part of the proper fight for legalization, but will complicate your job hunting efforts, to be sure.

If you do not have any medical records, but have visited a doctor for legitimate issues in the past, try to contact their office and obtain them. Again, you do not need health insurance for this, but you will need information to supply the recommending doctor with.

yea much thanks for your help. I don't think it will be possible to obtain a card before my test tomorrow but I can def get one within the week. I've lived with chronic joint pain my entire life that has gone undiagnosed through a million tests so I don't think that should be a problem. Honestly don't know why I never really thought about getting a card lol.

Maybe things are more relaxed in CA, but it isn't as easy as saying "Sometimes my back hurts" and getting a marijuana permit in other states where it's been legalized. I genuinely hope it's nowhere near that easy in CA, because that is downright shitty medical care.

It's not that easy, I know quite a few people who tried to get it with worse then undiagnosable joint pain and were told to fuck off.
