OP's sentence did start mid-year in 2008... Almost exactly around the same time as a certain other event before I faded out of FFXI.

    Plot thickens.

Population control; you should thank me. Or bunnies would be the new crabs.

While the story is indeed eye opening, I hate the fact that ever single person on there was basically sucking his balls about how "well written" it was. Are you fuckin' kidding me? Shit was so hard to read it gave me a headache.

I was also irked that nobody really seemed to give a shit that he held somebody up at gunpoint like a fucking scumbag. It seems like he learned his lesson but I've never seen a robber get so much praise in my life. Just because he told the internet the truth about prison doesn't make him some great guy. I'm sure anybody who gets out of prison would tell you the same truths if you asked.

God damn. Did anybody else think the same thing?

Edit: Who knows if this story is even true at all? lol

    ^ This. My thoughts exactly.
Just because he's capable of (badly) composing a few sentences he's not a "prison hero" or anything like that. He's just another robber who sealed his own fate and will be treated as a reject by any self-respecting person or social group until he dies. Which will probably happen soon.

This story comes from 4chan right? In that case I wouldn't be surprised if it's product of some random internet guy's imagination.

It was a chan for sure, but not 4chan, possibly 99chan? a place where some people remember him posting about when he went in to prison.

The respect people have for their fellow man is quite remarkable.

Truthfully, there's a fair amount of dick sucking in the original thread, but to be honest, a lot of it appears to be fascination, not outright "oh God, it's so terrible, you were sent to jail and I'm so sorry for you". As mentioned, jail itself does not reform people, and when individuals like yourself consider former criminals worthy of eternal scorn, what choice do they have besides living a life of misery and possibly returning to crime?

Through such a mindset, you are condemning a one-time offender to a life of destitution. You may believe, "well, that's not my fault; they committed the crime in the first place," and that on its own is true, but the majority of society turning its backs on such people is what often leads them to doing it again. They are afforded no other opportunities.

Why, then, are they even jailed? Why are petty crimes considered lesser than murders? Why don't we simply kill them all? You don't want them. That's what you're saying, isn't it? Every criminal is unworthy of being treated like a human being?

This thought had also crossed my mind, especially after reading what was said in the other thread. Someone pointed out that the number of murders the OP reported accounted for like 1.5% of all deaths in prison for that year and that murders were only a small portion of that number. Then again, some prison demographics are self reported and they have a penchant for sweeping stuff under the rug, so who knows really.

And yeah, way too much dick sucking/mutual masturbation going on in that thread.

I wish Kohan was the person that this guy robbed, or Elcura. this guy is a straight clown.

My brother went to prison for 6 years like a boss, he is about to graduate from the university of Oklahoma. This shmuck did 2 years, and wants to flee the country because being an ex con is hard. boohoo

You think I haven't been mugged before? News flash, I live in London, and while gun point robbery isn't common, knives are. Yet despite that, I still feel the same way, that if given a better chance people wouldn't need to have thoughts like fleeing the country or robbing some ATM.

Your brother managed to make the best out of the situation, and I'm happy for him. But saying shit like "because being an ex con is hard, boohoo" is downright stupid. I don't care for what he did, even having been on the other side of it, but I can appreciate him sharing the experience and sympathize with his conditions for parole.

But I guess I should get mugged for that anyway?

Only got about 3/5 through that story. I'll finish the rest later. But man some of that stuff he talked about is fucked up shit. Mostly the drugs and sex in prison.

Why is that even necessary? I'm sympathetic to his circumstances regarding parole.

This sounds like he spent time in State/Federal prison, which is a whole different story vs a County Jail.
