    No, not necessarily.

I already explained why I said it was "smart" and that it was really his only option.

That wasn't his only option though. Actually fighting it out and not using random moves for no reason is an option, too. That is what you call solid play.

Dropping combos is not solid play. Even in the video he mentions he's dropping combos. This was complete herp a derp "I pressed random buttons before you" BS

Again this game rewards mashing way too much. You don't even have to read your opponent.

I agree with the top notion. I don't think anyone really said it was solid play.

As far as mashing, maybe you should tighten up your frame traps and/or blockstrings? I think maybe it just means that you can't apply braindead pressure and blockstrings.

@Deejay, but then why do that when you can do a much better option to get out of that situation? He could have DP+Switch cancelled, but it's not safe. He could have mashed switch and eaten a combo for 300~500 damage. I feel if he tried to beat it with solid play, yes it could work, or the opponent could just get him into a block string and chip him to death. Ah, he could have alpha countered, switched/switch cancel, I suppose. But then you have a mostly dead character you can't necessarily utilize as much, or you can even out the health and use both in neutral? This is just my thought process, what do you think?

If he alpha countered he would get a knockdown that allowed him to be in a neutral state with 2 bars. Dudley and Steve can net 500 damage with two bars easily. Cross Assault wasn't his only option, it was just the easiest.

Yes, I was wrong at that point. And yes, I see what you say about 2 bars, but what about the idea of point + anchor characters? afaik, steve is not that great in neutral game at all, especially when you need to get in and open someone up. Giving some life to your point character with a better neutral game could sway it in a more favorable way than a mostly dead dudley and a full health steve and be worth the extra bar? I'm at work right now, but I could have sworn he got a hit during cross assault which could have gone into super and get some nice damage on top of the other benefits to make it worth the spending. Can you do a super when your "timer" is below 2 bars or can you only do it when your super meter is between 3 and 2?

you can do a super at anytime during cross assault, it will just end the cross assault abrubtly

I'm talking about shit like people pressing random buttons knocking me out of an invincible move because for some reason its better to push buttons than block in this game.

Maybe that move isn't so invincible if a random button beats it lol

Yeah, idk what to say about that. Shit happens to me in SF too, which is why I get really frustrated.

Hmm just thought, if he went for alpha counter, a jab tick throw would beat it(would take a lot of reacts to alpha counter a jab, no)? Unless you could option select an alpha counter with throw?

There is no easy way to come back in that situation other than to be good

Yes. I'm just going through the thought process of his best available options and what would be the counter that. So am I wrong or right?

Edit: just posting this here as well. Haven't watched through the entire thing yet, and it's on mute so I can't hear commentary. Entertaining me at work nonetheless though.

Here's the thing. This video's just a nice comeback (I'll call it a comeback, because even comebacks need some retarded ass luck/balls out situations to happen) that I thought was fun to share, not to start all this "WELL HE WAS DUM DUM PLAYER REWARDED IN DUM GAME HERPDERP" bullshit. Jesus christ, lol.

@Deejay really? no way to come back in SF4 other than being good? I've seen some pretty braindead ass gameplay by some players out there that'd prove otherwise.

I dont see the difference between AE and SFxT here. Not all specials are safe on block. Besides most nonpunishable specials dont leave you at an advantage.
