"Yo eSports!" and all that. About time Capcom digs in deep for the FGC.We're proud to announce that IPLAYWINNER and TEAM SPOOKY are working on a very exciting project with Capcom—a live reality show for Street Fighter x Tekken titled "Cross Assault" — that is going to take everything you know and love about streams and the fighting game scene to a completely new level.
"Cross Assault" is live and uncut, spanning the course of 7 days, with two teams — Team Street Fighter and Team Tekken — facing off against each other under the coaching of two legendary players from the fighting game community, all with a grand prize of $25,000.
Five players will be chosen for each team, all competing in a series of skill-based challenges surrounding Street Fighter x Tekken, with the coach for each team working with the players to find the most effective strategies to lead their team to victory. Players who don't make the cut will have to rely on their fighting game skills to avoid being eliminated from the competition. That's right, being dope at boogie boarding or jump roping wont help you here — it's all about your fighting game skills in "Cross Assault"!
IPLAYWINNER and TEAM SPOOKY are pulling the best of the best from the community to make this a production unlike anything you've seen before. We've assembled an all-star team — many of which who helped make the EVO2K11 stream one of the most watched competitive gaming events of all time — to ensure this is a production that stays true to what makes the fighting game community so amazing.
If you're ready to see if you've got what it takes, create a video blog detailing why you should be on "Cross Assault". We're not looking for scrubs here so make sure you include footage or proof that you're a seasoned fighting game player who's serious about the game. That said, we're also not just cherry picking top players. We're looking at many other factors such as interesting personalities, comments left on the videos, likes, dislikes - everything!
Once your video is ready submit the URL here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/go/crossassault/signup
You must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the United States (including the District of Columbia) at the time of application. If you are chosen to participate in the Program, you will be required to show proof of age and residence prior to participation.
So when do we go live with "Cross Assault"? Exact dates will be revealed very soon but you can expect to tune in sometime in late February with the Grand Finals taking place live at Final Round in Atlanta, GA. In the meantime, stay tuned to IPW and Capcom-Unity for all the latest "Cross Assault" developments!
on another note Tekken x Street fighter will be 1. vs. 1 fighting game (no tagteams) with a 6 button layout says Harad on his twitter. (i thought Tekken was allways played with 4 buttons?)

. . .Bah! Isn't it annoying when one platform gets all of the nice little exclusive bonuses and the other one gets a whole lot of nothing? Street Fighter X Tekken already has a massively robust and exciting roster as it is, but the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions will also be getting Cole McGrath from inFamous and Sony cat mascots, Toro and Kuro, while the Xbox 360 will be getting no bonus guest characters.
But it turns out that this might not have been the case had Capcom been able to successfully negotiate exclusive characters with Microsoft. Speaking to Producer Yoshinori Ono at Capcom's UK HQ earlier today, we asked whether there had been plans for Xbox 360 exclusive fighters.
"We do have the exclusive characters for the Sony platform. We have Cole, the two Sony cats, Kuro and Toro. But basically for the Xbox 360, we were in discussions with them (Microsoft) for which character to put in as an exclusive, but we weren't able to decide on a character because of differences in timing and things like that," Ono told X360A. "So unfortunately for Street Fighter X Tekken, only the PlayStation family will be getting the exclusive characters, but it's something we wish could have happened. It's just too bad, basically."
Which characters would have Ono liked to have inducted into the Street Fighter X Tekken stable then?
"In terms of characters we wish we could have put in the game, Master Chief or Marcus Fenix from Gears of War would have been really cool, but it was just really difficult," Ono added. "We have Cole from inFamous on PS3, which is really cool, but that's just the way it turned out."
Halo's Spartans are no stranger to fighting games as Spartan-458 (AKA Nicole) was in Dead or Alive 4 as a hidden character and Marcus Fenix was an extra character in Capcom's Lost Planet 2. This time however, they'll be staying put in Halo and Gears of War respectively.
Street Fighter X Tekken is out in early March.
I'm thrilled the Xbox version has no console specific character added. That shit is for scrub games.
MASTER CHEEF YO
deff. woulda rubbed one out to the chief. oh well

Adding Gems best thing that happened to this game.Capcom’s Dawgtanian just announced on twitter that Street Fighter x Tekken will allow you to access the button configuration menu at the character select screen. The game will also include an option that prevents accidental pauses during tournaments. Once activated, the game will only pause if you hold down the start button.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on what type of button configuration setup Street Fighter x Tekken uses. Hopefully it’ll be similar to HD Remix’s button press method instead of the scrolling setup from SFIV.
Capcomall day with this product. And now future games will have this feature off top.
Eh, I know you hardcore fighter fans are on the fence about this, but it looks fun to me. I'll be picking it up.
I'll be playing the living shit out of this game.
I haven't been following this game too closely lately but outside of gems, does anyone know how much the system has changed since this build?
I need to know how much of this is actually making it to the final build before I decide whether to be excited or not.
More importantly when are you buying an xbox lol
That video is legit....looks much faster than the one I played.
per GiantBomb they're adding a gem-setting method to make it more streamlined...for tournaments, lol. Looks like they fully intend for the game to be played with gems at the highest level, I'll be interested to see what the community/TOs decide to do with them.
edit: I'm also wondering about 2v2 scramble mode play...does each team have 6 gems total then?
