To be more specific, if they want to add a character, say Dante, to SF x Tekken, his framework will have to be on the disc. They can edit and make changes to frame data, costume, ultras, etc at a later date, but he must exist on the disc. You cannot just add a new character a year later to a game if they are not present on the disc, for any game.

You also cannot just add new levels / enemies to games like Mass Effect a year later unless it was planned before release. If you believe otherwise, boy, have they fooled you. (Well enemies in that game they could just take every model in the game and change the costume, lol)

This is the main reason many people believe games on Ps4 will be entirely download / digital only. Companies can create more $ post release and save money on the production end.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but this is simply not the case all the time. Let's take an extreme example. Dragon Age 2 DLC. Now here is a game that caused significant backlash with the fans because of some of the development ideas/direction this game took. After all of the feedback and criticism, Bioware shaped their DLC around that. Granted, story and everything may have already been floating around. As far as everything else goes though, mechanics, enemies, & even level design, was all based on post release backlash.

I'm not denying your point here, but there are definitely exceptions to the rule. I agree 100% that most DLC is at the very least initially planned ahead. (story/ideas)

Mechanics, enemies, and level design are all contained within the disc and altered, reskinned, modded, or adjusted. This is similar to frames being adjusted from AE > AE2012.

The base, or foundation, already existed. Again, you cannot* implement a new foundation on console games. It doesn't matter how much anyone wishes it to be so.

It's clear you're a gaming developer and know everything there is to know about creating video games. I guess I stand corrected. I about expected this answer from you. You think you're some know it all when it comes to everything. Calling my Amazon "argument" ignorant is just another example. I simply made a statement. You disagree with it. I was hardly arguing, much like I am now. I have personally never had a late shipment from amazon with release day delivery. You have. Sorry if you thought I was stating what I said as a fact.

Where exactly in your vast and seemingly limitless knowledge are you getting your information from? You're spouting all of this information, yet supplying nothing. Unless I'm googling the wrong thing, I have found nothing stating as such. I can gladly admit when I'm wrong, but not just off of statements from someone.

If I'm ignorant for making such a statement, you are just as much for providing no means for your argument. I don't get why you're so hostile to everyone. No reason for it.
