To be honest, I think the reason why there weren't a lot of time outs in top 8, was they were all pretty lopsided affairs, it was mostly Infiltration or Chris G beating up on people, and when they met, it wasn't close at all either.

Did infiltration even lose a round the entire tournament? I know he didn't lose a single round to chrisg at all.
So, went to NCR this weekend, first tournament playing experience. Went 1-2 on SFxT and 0-2 on Marvel. My first match of the entire tournament was actually me getting blown up on stream by Padtrick in MarvelDropped combos everywhere. Really nice guy though, glad he made it to top 8 and was rooting for him after he beat me. I also think I inadvertently ran into Scunsion while we were both lost looking for the venue initially but didn't realize who it was.
As for the overall tournament experience: Overall had a good time, though the venue was ass IMO, mostly due to the setup. Wondering why they didn't just have the pool setups along the wall instead of setup in the middle-back where it took forever just to walk from station to station because of all the crowding. I know there were sponsors taking up the wall area but really, they had a fuckton of space, didn't look like they needed it. Only went to Marvel and SFxT finals to watch on Sunday, marvel was hype despite all the mistakes. No surprise that champ won since he seemed like the only guy who was on point with all his shit. SFxT was pretty meh to watch...by the time we got to grand finals everyone I was with just wanted it to be over with already so we could peace out.
I went 4-2 in my pool. Lost to a scrub Ryu playing Ken. I switched to Dudley and won 4 before being peaced out by a Gen player in losers semi of my pool.
deejay you were at ncr?
Yeah man
y u no hit me up
lol SFxTK is pretty much already a dead game in Chicago
It has no hype at all. 2v2 teams is not going to fix that lol.
The only thing that will bring hype is if Capcom throws a huge pot at the game and finals end up being like Combofriend/Wong vs. Daigo/Nuki.
2v2 will make it hype but only because of the shit talking that will be going on. game still sucks
Not unless you are a fan of Ross/Clakey/Combofiend/Gootecks/etc and enjoy "MIKE ROSS IS THE WORST PLAYER ALIVE laugh laugh laugh" and "The worst player on the planet Clakey D on the stick laugh laugh laugh". I can't even watch their Cross Counter episodes with them all on it anymore because it doesn't look like they are even playing halfway competitive.
That is about the extent of their shit-talking. The only way it will be good for pop offs is it some team like Yipes/Sanford pops off against like Ricky/Filipino Champ. East v West type of shit.
If Justin/Floe are still a team I have a feeling it's going to be anti-hype, so far they're just light years ahead of any other teams from everything I've seen.
Also, I agree with the lack of hype, but I just don't understand it. Maybe there just hasn't been any good come-backs yet? Dunno. VF5 was hype (it was boring as fuck to watch for me), SC5 was hype (also boring as fuck for me), portions of SF4 I watched was okay, and it was okay. Combofiend using Oni was exciting to me, but I know next to nothing. ChrisG vs Floe was exciting to me. Maybe it was just infiltration completely dominating everyone or something, dunno? Maybe because there was not really any high-level gameplay (infiltration just seemed to have solid knowledge of defense and switching properly, which I guess could be argued as high-level, meh)
That's because the game is built to stifle comebacks. Corner pressure is too hard to get out of, timer is too short, and Pandora is more or less useless(this point not necessarily being a negative one).
I agree with Calli. Right now the matches look really predictable. People hated on X-factor for being random, but here it seems like they went overboard to actually prevent comebacks from happening. So anti-hype.
Well what is there in SF4? Ultra meter? I feel like people come back with solid gameplay rather than shitting all everyone with a random wake-up ultra. They should buff pandora, maybe remove the timer? Something to introduce a comeback mechanic that's not overly broken (like XF). I mean you already can't use pandora with more than 25% life, so why not make it a bit stronger since you're going to have 25% coming in anyways...
