Monitor HDMI Audio with PS3 help

    Well I bought this monitor

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824005152

Has a plug in the back for audio, HDMI, DVI, and D-SUB.

It's main use is a computer monitor however I'm now trying to tinker with it to see if its possible to work with the PS3. I put a speaker system in the back to plug into the audio since I figured the audio port is most likely specifically for outputting the HDMI Audio since DVI and D-sub can't carry audio.

The video signal from HDMI works fine. The audio works fine as well during the main menu from PS3, fine when I load Megaman 10, PS1 games work fine for carrying audio, Fat Princess does as well. However, when I load a PS3 game (Heavy Rain Demo saved to HDD, Final Fantasy XIII from the disc, the audio cuts out.

Is my monitor just not able to handle the sounds from those games or am I missing something? I figured it would be able to handle PS3 games since Fat Princess loads but maybe that game uses less/different sound channels then most PS3 games?

edit: Sound works for DVDS and I'm assuming Blue rays since the blue ray disc that came with PS3 works too, but I don't have any blue ray movies specifically to test it with.

I had this same exact problem with a different monitor. Sometimes messing around with sound settings for like an hour and constantly resetting system worked, sometimes it didn't. I never had a definite solution. I would get it to work with one game, but if I put in any new ps3 game I would have to go through this again. It was frustrating enough for me to unplug the ps3 from my 1080p monitor and go back to my 720p tv. My monitor even has speakers on it so I wouldn't have to use an audio out, still wouldn't work sometimes.

Lotta forums seem to tell you to try a different audio setting, reboot, enter game, rinse and repeat till it works. It's a lot of hassle.

Good. Like I said I had one solution work for a while then when I put in a new game months later it didn't work.
