Makes more sense now. Thought I was missing something about spinning heel, like an AF piece enhancement or something.

    HEAD: Temple Circlet
BODY: Temple Cyclas / Rainmaker's Tunic [nothing worth melding though]
HANDS: Raptorskin Gloves of Slaying [STR x2/3] / Temple Gloves
LEGS: Felt Trousers [STR x2, get more than +10] / Temple Gaskins
    FEET: Temple Boots
WAIST: Raptorskin Satchel Belt (Worth just buying a Veteran's Field Belt though)

NECK: Electrum Gorget / Explorer's Choker
    WRISTS: Rubelite Bracelets
RINGS: Rubeite Rings x2 / Electrum Rings x2

You wanna shoot for ~345 STR/~300 INT just to be prepared for a better weapon. Pretty much any of the primal weapons are gonna be better than anything crafted at this point. You'll want Garuda's Talon primarily, but Ifrit's or Moogle's weapon will be fine and provide options for high and low accuracy fights. Electrum rings are good backups to have when fighting the tougher stuff too. I know Explorer's Choker isn't crafted, but it's your accuracy option in the neck slot and was worth mentioning.
Adding to this, what grand company should I join, and including GC gear what would best set look like? I'm not too antiquated with the damage for this game yet.

Well that complicates things a bit, but you could narrow it down to ul'dah or limsa. These both have good h2h weapon options for use with sanction. They both have a decent body for use with mnk which happens to be 2nd only to darklight corselet. I believe limsa has a good set bonus with an attack earring too. I am not at PC atm so I can't give you precise stuff, so I'll make a followup post later detailing what I just posted, unless someone else would like to

Would appreciate it, thanks. I have a hard time even finding where half the gear comes from.

    If you join the Flames,
    Spoiler: show
    MAIN: Flame Sargeant Patas
    HEAD: Temple Circlet
    BODY: Flame Sargeant's Tabard
HANDS: Raptorskin Gloves of Slaying [STR x2/3] / Temple Gloves
LEGS: Felt Trousers [STR x2, get more than +10] / Temple Gaskins
    FEET: Temple Boots
    WAIST: Flame Sargeant's Sash
EARS: No Crafted Options (Explorer's Earring)
NECK: Electrum Gorget / Explorer's Choker
WRISTS: Rubelite Bracelets/Flame Sargeant's Bracelets with set bonus
RINGS: Rubeite Rings x2 / Electrum Rings x2

    If you join the Adders,
    Spoiler: show
    MAIN: Serpent Sargeant's Patas
    HEAD: Temple Circlet
    BODY: Serpent Sargeant's Tabard
HANDS: Raptorskin Gloves of Slaying [STR x2/3] / Temple Gloves
LEGS: Felt Trousers [STR x2, get more than +10] / Temple Gaskins
    FEET: Serpent Sargeant's Jackboots
WAIST: Raptorskin Satchel Belt (Worth just buying a Veteran's Field Belt though)/Serpent Sargeant's Belt
EARS: No Crafted Options (Explorer's Earring)/Serpent Sargeant's Earrings with set bonus
    NECK: Serpent Sargeant's Choker / Explorer's Choker
    WRISTS: Rubelite Bracelets
RINGS: Rubeite Rings x2 / Electrum Rings x2

    If you join the Maelstrom,
    Spoiler: show
    MAIN: Storm Sargeant's Hooks
    HEAD: Temple Circlet
    BODY: Storm Sargeant's Tabard
HANDS: Raptorskin Gloves of Slaying [STR x2/3] / Temple Gloves
LEGS: Felt Trousers [STR x2, get more than +10] / Temple Gaskins

WRISTS: Rubelite Bracelets/Storm Sargeant's Bracelets with set bonus
RINGS: Rubeite Rings x2 / Electrum Rings x2

I would recommend the Flames for the ACC+10 sash and sanctioned ATK+45 weapons, although Maelstrom is also good with STR+7 bracelet and sanctioned INT+40(!) weapons.

What's sanctioned mean? And is flames the only one that has an item that can't be upgraded at the moment(belt)?

When you are a Chief Sargeant of your Grand Company, an NPC at your company hall can grant you a 3-hour buff that unlocks a large additional bonus to certain GC weapons. The buff wears off if you die, but it costs nothing to receive and there's no limit to the number of times you can take it.

For melee DPS, there is currently no better belt than Flame Sargeant's Sash.

And everything except the belt can be upgraded for all jobs?

Do weaponskills have modifiers other than the auto attack modifiers or is the best way to increase their damage through capping your weapon modifiers and piling on attack?

I have 22/22 STR/INT points spent, which of the two do I put my last point?

I would say STR, as it has a higher cap and also influences attack power.

Went the regular way to 32 and just had a pl last night that brought me to 48.

That being said, at this point where am I going with gear so I don't just waste a bunch of money on the AH

AF will do you the most good for a great deal. When you get some money or whatever you can start melding specific things that will make you stronger (like double STR gloves and trousers etc).

A lot of good gear (or rather, the best) comes from doing raids and events. Cutter's Cry and Aurum Vale holds the best stuff, while primals will get you the best weapons. The only things you really need to buy are accessories like Electrum Rings/Gorget, STR rings and STR bracelets (no good AH choice for earring, unless you buy an explorer's earring).

Thanks. While you're still on, is there anything that I can do/need that is soloable while I wait for my buddy to get on?

I'd go do all the stuff required to join a Grand Company, if you haven't already.

Am I wrong to have an high INT setup for my MNK?

I have Ifrit's Claws and use Serpent hose (8 int), Serpent jackboots (INT +10, evasion +30), Serpent's earring (INT +4), Serpent's belt (3 VIT, 3 INT), and one INT +18 ring. For STR, I have the Rubelite (sp) bracelet for 3 STR and a 15 STR ring (which I am planning to update to +1).

My STR is around 270 while my INT is around 325.

Looking at str rings now. See some str+15 rings for 30k each. These the way to go? My acc sucks generally but not sure how much help the acc rings are doing me in comparison

STR or Accuracy depending on your needs/setup/what you fight. Generally if you have good accuracy you should go STR, and if you ever get a weapon with accuracy on it (Mogfists, Garuda's Talons) you should definitely go STR. If you ever miss a WS on a mob, you should definitely get more ACC, since missing a combo severely lowers your damage output.

In general there isn't a very clear cut setup to what is best, it all depends on what you need (which is why I have no inventory space).

As for INT vs STR, I tend to favour STR more than INT where I can, at least until you hit the cap for STR, then you can focus on INT. IIRC STR will do more for your WS and attacks than INT will, so if you have a choice between STR and INT it's better to go STR.

STR should always take priority over INT until you're capped (this holds true for every DD but ARC) because its benefits are twofold: the straight damage increase and the secondary attack gained (2 ATK per 3 STR, not displayed in the stat menu).

As for accuracy, unless you're using a moogle/garuda weapon, an explorer's choker, or some other significant source of accuracy, you should be using ACC rings.

There is no ACC cap so unless you're at 100% hit rate (not likely to happen for anyone but ARC) there's no wasted potential and more importantly weapon skills don't have innate accuracy bonuses like they do in XI (blindside doesn't even guarantee a hit).

If you have less than 400 ACC, I'd say you need more acc.
