What's everyone rank lvl in comparison to their shield lvl? My sentinel is at 14 while my gladiator is 25. The skillup for me is very slow =(

Rank24 Glad and Sentinel 17 :D skill is pwn for me!
Officially done with Glad until some much needed changes are made. I leave the rest of the info grinding to you guys :Q
Like less-awful Acc?
Not that everything else is perfect, but that's the real Achilles' heel and shit flows downhill.
If my Acc weren't total ass and shield blocks mitigated more damage, I'd be happy enough for now.
Edit: With the natural assumptions that seeing shield/sword on separate skill caps and more consistent skillups also being part of the equation, but I kind of think that should be assumed.
Not to mention the UI lag that seems unique (in terms of how bad it is) to Gladiator. 'Sup no delay lag on PUG at-fucking-all.
I'd like two stamina bars, one for shield and one for sword, but that will never happen. Hell, tweaking hate mechanics so gladiator is useful, or increasing our damage output so we can actually tank more efficiently than almost any other melee and I'd be happy.
They might as well make Provoke Gladiator only and half the stamina cost. That would help too...
lol
I can't seem to get half a level before my weapon durability goes to complete shit. With that deteriorates the ACC of my abilities. Am I supposed to carry 10 swords on me every time I leave town?
I tanked ants in Copperbell Mines yesterday, it was one of the most frustrating experiences ever. The ACC on these things seriously sucks, and they spam an attack that you can't block, so Phalanx (main ability to get hate and SP) goes out the window. I highly recommend against this masochistic endeavor.
J/W but are the people with acc issues using a weapon at or below their class rank? Are you using a weapon well below your class rank, as in there is a weapon of higher optimal rank you don't have yet?
Or maybe a better question, is there anyone who is using a weapon at its optimal rank while being at said rank and not having acc issues?
Edit: Another question. Do you glads notice a big difference in the damage you take when your gear is severely damaged?
All DoW have horrible accuracy problems. It doesn't seem to matter what gear or weapon you have equipped. Mobs high evasion rates just rub salt in the wounds.
It seems like I hit 50-60% of the time, miss 20-25%, and have my strike evaded 20-25% on green and yellow mobs (obviously rough). I use +ACC rings, have high DEX, and a level appropriate weapon.
edit: unless I'm fighting trivial mobs anyways.
I hear everyone in my LS complain about ACC.. but notice a HUGE difference between playing PUG and GLA. I took PUG to 20 to get Prime Conditioning and upon returning to GLA I can't believe how much worse it is to play this class in it's current condition... the ACC drop is noticeable but the worse is the battle delay in using ANY of your abilities. How many times I sit there, after hitting provoke, watching the stamina bar go all the way to it's limit, nothing happening, mages die.
Anyone notice how much worse it is with Aegis Boon? I can't tell you how many times I will hit this mid-fight, nothing will happen, the mob dies. I disengage to run to the next target, all the sudden watch my char stop to take weapon out and Aegis Boon activates.
So annoying. Trying to stay positive and just deal with it until the Nov update.
Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, or haven't spent enough time leveling other classes, or something, but at least for me the UI lag on GLA doesn't seem miles worse.
There are infrequent (and annoying) "burps" where a command won't fire for a while, but frequency-wise it's like once or twice in a night of grinding. Provoke and Guard are probably the worst offenders, and my spell casting bars are always all sorts of wonky, but I rarely, if ever, have such bat UI lag that GLA is unplayable.
I have a pretty decent PC, but it's no 2001 monolith or anything. I doubt my ping to the servers is significantly lower (FiOS is nice and all, but we all use the same transoceanic fiber trunks). So maybe I'm just dumb or something.
My biggest gripe is how slowly Gladiator levels compared to everyone else. If you're playing a tanking role, you can't simply attack spam like everyone else since all our hate abilities take up 50% stamina. My ACC is pretty poor atm too, so most of the time I'm just praying for Provoke to trigger a skill up.
I partied with a couple of LS mates for the last week, and started off 3 levels ahead of them, now I'm 2 levels behind. My SP gains while I tanked for them were pretty dismal. Last night, I joined up a random SP group who already had a tank, and they let me just whack away and WS like a normal melee. In this group, my SP gains went up probably 3~4 times from my tanking SP.
They need to adjust the system that's in place if they want people to play specific roles in the party. Otherwise it's just going to end up a big clusterfuck of TP burns, and mass cures. Where's the strategy?
If they removed the SP cap, they might actually encourage Gladiators to perform their party-specific role instead of just wanting to spam attack. Personally, after seeing what Gladiator is incapable of doing solo (SP-wise too), I don't blame them for wanting to join parties to simply swing away for skill. Sentinel ranks slows down our progression big time, just as you are saying, and it's god damn fucking unfair. And Since THM is a better tank, where exactly do we fit into this game? What's our role exactly? Barbing stuff to death?
SE, y god y
On the plus side, PUG feels like the new SAM tank with THM being the new RDM tank. Maybe this is FFXI +1 after all.
Ok I thought it was just me sucking not able to play my class.... I don't wanna give up on Glad... but yea... Making me wanna switch to a Thaumaturge or someting
I wouldn't give up yet... brand new game been out 1 month... there will be plenty of tweaks and adjustments.. if you're frustrated I would suggest spending your time now leveling up alternates for abilities or your craft(s). I do think GLA will be good, but like everyone else, agree it needs a lot (if not the most) work of all classes.
Yesterday I did 3x rank10 Leves (3 stars), all with Guardian's Favor and all I got was a total of 1400SP total.
Problem is if I pick 1 Star, Leve mobs die in 2 hits and I can't get any SP out of them.
If I pick 3 Stars, their damage output becomes so high that I have to activate Punishing Barbs or I wont be able to whitstand 3 mobs for more than a minute. Problem is it looks like it won't grant me any SP because the mobs auto-kill themselves.
I'm playing on GLA but I have absolutely no idea how I can work past this issue.
