Volc, Brady netted me -6 points for throwing over 200 yards and 1INT, you opinion is invalid.
That scoring system sounds retarded. I tend to agree that Kickers are too random to be worthwhile, it's easy to just remove them.
I argue for standard scoring. Standard scoring does not use milestones. I have touched on why milestones are retarded multiple times. I guess we should look at each player's individual contract and figure out what milestones they deserve, Tyche?First one is milestones - they are absurdly stupid. How does a player rushing for 99 yards instead of 100 make absolutely no difference in winning or losing a game in the NFL, yet it can make a huge difference in fantasy? Look at all the other fantasy sports... does LeBron James get bonus points when he scored 30 points in a game? How about when Prince Fielder hits a home run in a game... do they give him another one as a "milestone"? Hell no. I have no idea why Fantasy Football has them other than the people who were playing thought they were a good idea back in the 90's when it was the only mainstream fantasy sport. People need to get with the times.
Bolded statement is BS, you can easily use your first two picks on featured RBs and not dominate the league. I disagree with this whole paragraph. It's ok if one position is more consistent than another. If you try to make everything perfectly equal (1)You will fail. (2)You will end up overpowering certain positions that you had previously deemed were overlooked or w/e. QB's matter only somewhat? Having a stud like Aaron Rodgers of last year can carry a team.Second is the 2 RB scoring system. Again it's so dated it's ridiculous and it should be abandoned. Back when most teams used a feature back it was alright, but with so many teams going with 2-3 running backs now in the NFL if someone can get a hold of 2 players who are "the guy" for their team they just dominate leagues if they are average everywhere else. Traditional fantasy scoring all but neglects every other position (minus a star or two at each) and is way too running back focused. QBs matter only somewhat and you might as well throw WRs, TE, K, and DEF out the window except for a few special guys because of the quantity available.
lmao, if it's your system, just get rid of them! I don't like kickers either, but they aren't a complete crapshoot once the season begins and you know what the different offenses are like.Third is kickers. As I mentioned they score way too many points and it's so random because kicking opportunities are just circumstantial. You can be the best kicker in the world but if he never sees the field because his team sucks then he's worthless. At least offensive and defensive players can make an impact regardless of the situation but with kickers it's a roll of the dice to see if they even get a chance to score points to begin with. If I had it my way I'd get rid of them... in my scoring system they average much less than all other players and I use them as a small random factor to the game.
That league, as in tyrs scoring.
This was his statline:
23 for 47, 216 yards (4.6 average), 0TDs 1INT... his team lost 16-9
Sorry, but if you aren't even close to the league average for completion % or yards per completion, let alone not even above a 50% completion percentage, you're hurting your team with your performance and thus you should hurt your fantasy team.
-6 points lol.
oh man i love fantasy football scoring arguments. I like PPR and bonuses mainly cuz guys like calvin johnson who will catch 3 balls and insane yards can keep pace with faggots like wes welker who will catch 14 balls fo no yards. it is a pretty fair balancing act
i had to fucking lol when i saw points per rushing attempt. all you are doing is making the most valuable backs in the draft even more valuable. it really screws people that draft later in the first in my opinion. its already bad enough that they dont get a crack at turner, gore, sjax, etc. but now it just stings worse.
6 point passing TDs are debatable.
I think Turner is gonna' be a beast this year. Been pretty low on the radar in most drafts too.
nice, you will be able to average 3 more points a week with him now too
In standard scoring, he put up 6 points that week. Getting only 6 points from your QB slot really hurts your fantasy team. It doesn't have to be negative to hurt your team. I had the great Jay Cutler, and you better believe his 300 yard 5 INT game for 2 fantasy points hurt my team. I had Chris and Andre Johnson and still had a ton of close games due to shitty QB play.
If there was a fair way to factor completion percentage, I'd be all for it. I've tried it in a few leagues and it just doesn't work.
The bottom line is it is a fantasy game and therefore impossible to make everything perfectly fair. Making the right play in a real game will not always translate to fantasy. I have been playing very seriously for 7 years now(I'm sure others have played longer so inb4 "OH YEAH WELL IVE PLAYED 20 YEARS!"), and tinkered with different scoring systems every year. There is always something that ends up unbalanced and unfair, and it is a shame to ruin a league with a bad scoring system. If all of the BG folk like that system and want to pay $20 to play with it, good for them. I'm just trying to explain why standard makes the most sense and has been by far the best way to play in my experience.
cuz i am a sucker for ppr. i draft pass catching RBs by the truck load.
IF I DONT ABUSE THE SYSTEM WHO WILL MOSS? WHO WILL?
also tyche, have you given any thought to points per passing target? guys like roy williams work hard to get open and deserve to be rewarded. its not their fault they cant catch it
Draft catching RBs still beast without PPR. I prefer them because they can still rack up points if the team has to give up on the run and they get more touches overall.
The talk of Falcons camp has been how good of shape he has been in. I would put money on him beasting it all year. I would consider taking him before Chris Johnson personally but there is some homerism there.
