RBs, very important.
RBs, very important.
Can't wait to hear how any of that is relevant to fantasy football.
Funny, it was just a page or two ago you were countering the argument you are now making.
If you don't think Chris Johnson is fucking integral to the success of the Titans offense with his speed, I don't know what to tell you.
Sure, Glen Coffee isn't anything special, but opportunity is just as important as talent in fantasy. When you try to insert all of these personal views into the game, it gets twisted into crap.
Sure it was integral, he put up historic numbers, and yet his team wasn't even top 10 in offense.
OK so in fantasy football, where you draft individual players from individual teams, those players' points should be based on the team's overall success. That makes sense.
A RB doesn't do near as much for you in a game as the QB, therefore, it shouldn't in fantasy football.
I'd be fine with commishing BGP.
What about the following membership rubric:
Top 6 the year before from BGP
Remaining 6 places filled by the top 3 finishers in BGE and BGW (which may also be a top 6 finisher in BGP, in which case we go to the next spot in the standings, etc.)
Gives it a EPL feel
Thoughts?
ANd before you say "well, he meant more than Vince Young did", I agree. And that was reflected in the scoring. He almost doubled up Vince.
And you can't commission BGP, it's already a league. It just has to be reopened. If Tyr doesn't show up to BG this year for whatever reason, we'll look at alternatives.
6 players have EVER run for 2000 yards.
7 people threw for 4300 yards last year.
Agreed.
Oi... well I couldn't disagree more there. QBs being the top scorers in general is fine, since there is only 1 slot per team, and only 32 starters at any one time. But having a good QB score ahead of an all time great RB is wrong. By your logic, every decent QB should outscore every RB.therefore, it shouldn't in fantasy football.
They pretty much did. While he mentions Brees "only" outscoring him by 5 points a game, what he fails to mention is that I'm pretty sure Favre, Manning, Rodgers, Romo, and Schaub all outscored him as well...
Not to mention, most of them had at least one game where they played little or not at all at the end of the season, and still maintained higher scores for the year.
Did you watch the season? The Titans were like 0-6, and went like 9-1 with VY as the starter. You should just base your scoring completely on MVP votes.
You can't make fantasy football into a perfect reference of the most valuable players in the NFL. A caretaker QB is not a good fantasy QB, but a Jon Kitna on a heavy throwing Lions team is. There are going to be some discrepancies between RL and fantasy; that's why they call it fantasy.
this x1000.... there's simply no way CJ should be getting outscored by Brees that much, let alone at all. Say what you want about the Titans and losing but it certainly wasn't CJ's fault.
I'd honestly rather use the standard scoring system posted earlier (by Moss I think) than a scoring system like that so I really hope we're not using it for the BG cash league.
