If you were out there on the field, and you caught a pass, zero yards or not, would you won't some credit? Maybe you should call into the NFL Scorers and how they track shit and tell them that catches for 0 or negative yardage don't count toward the record books.
The context of the game is all that should matter. A 0 yard catch does nothing for you in a game, and therefore should do nothing for you in fantasy football.
Because 5 catches for four yards a catch is common and typical.
Let's stop giving points to RBs who don't convert 3rd downs and force a punt, because what good did they do?
Congrats, 8 yard rush on 3rd and 13, you get nothing.
Yeah, fuck all those times LT saved Phillip Rivers during those emergency check downs. No points to him!
I don't see many QBs risking a checkdown if they want to run the clock down. In most cases, offenses go into "Prevent" mode and have the RB run it up the gut for a grand total of five yards combined, and then a punt. But hey, that's positive yards, therefore, points. Thank god it wasn't a 0 yard checkdown.
You guys are fucking ridiculous, lmao.
Cop out. Come up with a real reason. That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen you post.
This season, watch some games.
Not sure how this is relevant. You can use fractional scoring, or just know that the next 2 yard rush will make a point. That statement really makes no sense at all, lol.Congrats, 8 yard rush on 3rd and 13, you get nothing.
What are you even saying... he gets points for the yards he gains. In the case of an "emergency check down" Rivers also had the option of sailing the ball over his head. Anything less and including no gain is of no benefit, except for the highly specific and uncommon situation of passing while trying to run the clock down.Yeah, fuck all those times LT saved Phillip Rivers during those emergency check downs. No points to him!
Reaching a little, yeah. QB thinks the man outside has a clear route when he doesn't (or just checks down out of habit and brain farts), intelligent receiver steps out to kill the clock to give the team another shot. Receiver makes up for a mistake by the QB.
What's not reaching, is setting up the defense. It's critical. Even screen passes for a loss of 2-3 can be beneficial to the offense the next play, or in a similar scenario later in the game.
That's a huge part of the fucking game man. This shit is chess, not checkers.
My point is arguing Real Life relevance in the actual game to a fantasy game done online for pure entertainment is.. just beyond silly. So some scoring is done differently than others.. who gives a fuck? It's all a matter of personal preference. Some want to reward a running back for making a catch.. some don't. Not like it really matters in the end.
Hell, in IDP, WRs usually get tackles when a pick is thrown. I've won games because Andre Johnson had a couple tackles from Schaub missing his target, Haha.
Anyway, shit's a retarded discussion/argument that we have every single year. Never fails. Usually it's with Plow though, so eh. The reason I like this system more than Standard? Because I choose to. That's my reason.
everytime you catch the ball, you have a chance of good to touchdown yardage if the blocking is there. If you don't catch it, there is no chance
Sweet Jesus I will punch a fucking baby if I have to explain that one to you.
