Hiding files and folders from windows search?

Is there a way to do it so they don't show up in search?

Place them inside a separate folder inside a password protected ZIP/RAR is one way I could think to do it. I am not sure which windows you are on, but if you are on 7 and have custom users you could access the file in the user that created it and turn permissions off for all other users, but that would not prevent it from showing up in search on your user account. I don't know any other ways.

You could store your stump porn in an encrypted or compressed volume.

This is how it's done on Vista.

Right click said folder, go to properties.

"General" Tab, at the bottom next to Attributes, click the 'hidden' check box. Click Apply.

Won't appear in searches, however it can still be found.

Search for "Folder Options" on the start menu search.

Click the "View" Tab, there's a setting near the top that you should see right when you switch to that tab. "Hidden files and folders" --> "Do not show hidden files and folders" or "Show hidden files and folders". That is pretty much "Want it to show up in search or not?".

Say you have it as a desktop folder. If you make it hidden, it will disappear. You go into folder options, set it to show the file. It will reappear so that you can open it, change the settings back to hidden, and browse said folder.
