    Weight Bench Help

My parents bought this at an auction for a dollar over the weekend. It's a bench and some weights on a pulley like system. Our problem is that we have no idea how to put this together. There is no brand name or anything on the weights or bench I can Google in order to look up how to put these together. My initial reaction is that these two pieces have nothing to do with each other.

Any help or information would be much appreciated.

Holy crap, yeah throw away that thing that looks like a shitty guitar neck. the bench may be viable if it at least has a rack for a standard benchpress, you would be surprised what you can do with just a bench and a bar. The leg extension piece looks like it was designed for plate weights, so that should work out. Need to know more. What else came with it, besides the lamp shade and what I will assume is a barbie dream castle?

No bar. Worst case i'm thinking I could just take the end off the pulley thing and use everything else as a bar.

That sounds scary as fuck. Probably do not do that. Not just any piece of straight metal will work. The reason you need a weight bar is to keep the weights in place while you lift. If there is nothing on the bar to keep the weight from moving, you will be either patching your floor, or bleeding, maybe both. I am not sure what a standard olympic weight bar runs these days, but looking at that bench you will want something smaller I believe.

    something like this

    or this

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ima...se-and-fitness

Those are going to be pretty expensive from a retailer, but find a used sporting goods store, or check a goodwill, they shouldn't hurt you too bad there. But considering you got a bench for a buck, you could probably afford to spend a little bit for a barbell set.

Another one, fairly decent starter set.

Simple googleness so, its nothing spectacular, but most of those exercises you can do with just that bench and a bar, should you decide to get one.
    good luck sir.

Unless you know how to weld and polish metal, that thing's pretty useless. Go to Walmart and put down $50 for a new one. You could probably ditch the pulley part and just use the actual bench, I guess.

Picture looks pretty old, did you get the camera from the same auction ??

On a serious note, everyone else has said it, throw it away and buy another one.

Get rid of it and do two things. Don't spend your money on shitty equipment (bowflex) and get a membership to a gym, not a 24 hour fitness club a golds gym or equivalent. Just my opinion...

Fuck y'all with your expensive ass advice. You think everyone is made of money? Best advice for him would be to get a job that is actually labor intensive, that way he can get in shape and make money instead of spending it. Something like a warehouse worker or a UPS driver. Loading and unloading Bowflexs has got to be one hell of a workout.

Gym memberships are expensive for normies that use it twice a year. Same with crap like a blowflex.

Just be a miser and download P90x for free and spend the 20-30 bucks for the dumbbells and resistance bands.

Chuck it. That thing came out in the 70's, maybe 80's, and is -NOT- safe.

Just judging from the guys legs and arms in the picture he doesn't look like hes out of shape... maybe lacking a little upper body strength but not fat by any means.
