Sims 3 crashes with 1.14 patch

As the title says, the game crashes with the latest patch. Game runs fine in version 1.whatever off the disk. But as soon as I update it starts crashing when I pick a house/sims. Create a sim and everything else still works. I've tried literally everything I can think of to fix it. Updating direct x, updating drivers, clearing game cache, removing mods, xp sp3 mode w/admin rights. Nothing works at all. Does anyone have a solution for this? Also running on Windows 7. Also I'm pretty sure it's not my video card overheating. It jumps up to ~64c when the game starts, but settles back down around ~55c.

I'm having the same problem AND the same circumstances except im running it on vista. Could someone please post a solution?
