FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread V: No one told me beta would have problems in it

FPS is capped @120 but seems weird.. Game looks like its on fast forward at times. Was getting 120FPS in CH and it looks a little like when you set your clock forward in FFXI lol.

Finally someone who's not just watching their FPS counter... I agree. Higher FPS cap, great. But the animations aren't adjusted to the higher FPS. It's stupid. Play pugilist and you'll see how silly the sped-up animations are. I prefer 30FPS, the way things are right now.

Anyway, there's other gripes with the battle system that weren't in phase 2.

Level-up sounds are annoying but will get fixed. The main problem right now is that you hear them at the same sound level, no matter how far you are from that person.

So, for us dumb folk, you're proposing that it may be linked to being 'high' level X while using a comparatively low-level X weapon? That's what I'm seeing, but for clarity's sake...

I done 2 local levels on BS, failed one (it's level 1, broke first two before i got to 70%, and on 2nd I got to 99% with 50~ durability, decided to use bold, failed and lost 57 durability x.x) and finished second one (Lv5 req).

Got an amazing 71 skill points from one of the synths (was from Lv5 req). Each syth was giving 500ish exp for first, 1000ish exp for second.

There doesn't seem to be any boost.

Yeah the surplus thing can't be a "bug" in itself.

"Oops we accidentally coded and designed this surplus skill mechanic to the game that gains levels too!"

It was clear that in phase one and two it was broken however. Maybe now too?


One thing I just remembered. XI had animations for hitting monsters while moving, aye? They could probably do the same thing for active/passive modes here? Also basic attacks while they're at it.

Ok, lets keep all macro talk here, basically I want to find out all of the Targetting commands.

I'm going to kick it off with what I've discovered so far:
Target Commands (That work):

Target Commands (That don't work):

<pX> (<p1>, <p2>, etc)

Line Limit:
God knows but it's more than enough for full gear and action swaps.


Basically I want to find the commands to shortcut targets to party members, currently curing is an absolute pain with the lack of target options.
Additionally if there's a way to force a spell to go to AoE or Single Target without messing around with the GUI when you actually cast it.

Anyone have something to add that they got to work? Anyone played around with the macros yet?

Was getting maybe stable 20 fps on average outside solo
15fps average in town

Now I'm at like 70fps outside solo
40fps in town on average......... fucking loving it feels like a whole new game.

Capping the fps isn't a good solution, but many people are reporting ridiculous GPU temperatures with this version. I'm not sure if it's brand or model specific yet, but there's something wrong.

Not much, but you can basically set all your actions with /equipaction <number> "Name of Skill"

Stuff like gear seems to be case-sensitive and needs to be between quotes.

You can do quick class changes like this.

Sadly, after executing the macro, it takes a few seconds for your skillbar to actually show the icons/skills there.

MRD example:

/equip main "Weathered War Axe"
/equipaction 2 "Broad Swing"
/equipaction 3 "Second Wind"
/equipaction 11 "Trunksplitter"
/equipaction 12 "Bloodbath"
/equipaction 13 "Brandish"
/equipaction 14 "Skull Sunder"

Is there some trick to selecting AoE or single target spells? I'm not sure how to just cast the f'n spell without hitting the button that pops up to change from AoE to single target and then hit enter again to confirm.

Seems you get Guild Marks for selected Leves only. I have one in camp bloodshore that will give 124 marks but can't use right now since I'm full on leve and can't exchange yet :<

have they added affects regarding critical hits now? they look/sound so much more deadly!

For GLD when you crit instead of swinging twice you'll swing three times and the sound effects are a bit different.
